
A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Sunday at 6:44 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 7:15 p.m. for Clay and Tallapoosa counties. The storms could bring marble-sized hail (0.5 inches) and wind gusts of up to 50 mph. "At 6:44 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over New Site, or 10 miles northeast of Alexander City, moving northeast at 15 mph," says the weather service.
