
Dumbfounded, depressed and scared, left-leaning Californians awoke Wednesday to news that few saw coming: Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton, would succeed Barack Obama in the White House.
Across the Bay Area, students marched out of their high schools in protest, many chanting “not our president.”
“It’s like the country is going back to the 1800s,” said 16-year-old Judy Cordova, outside of Oakland Technical High School, where hundreds left class Wednesday morning.
