The Biden administration allocated $900 million through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, intended to transition school buses nationwide from fossil fuels to cleaner energy.

Details: These funds will provide 530 schools across the country with over 3,400 clean school buses, 92% of which will be electric. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aims to improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and guide the nation in developing cleaner transport options through this investment. School districts in Ohio, Georgia, and other states are among the beneficiaries of this fund, enabling them to replace older, diesel-powered buses connected to health issues like asthma. Proponents believe the program will provide a healthier environment for children, lessen greenhouse gas emissions, and promote the country's leadership in clean vehicle development.

Key Quotes: Michael Regan, the EPA administrator, stated, “President Biden believes every child deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy life and breathe clean air, and his Investing in America agenda is designed to deliver just that. With today’s latest round of funding, we are transforming the nation’s school bus fleet to better protect our most precious cargo — our kids — saving school districts money, improving air quality, and bolstering American manufacturing all at the same time.”

How the Media Covered It: Coverage from Fox News (Right bias) stated that Biden authorized the funding “despite child illiteracy continuing to plague children in the U.S. education system,” focusing a large portion of the article on child illiteracy rates. The Biden administration is sending $900 million in rebates to 530 school districts across the country to replace diesel buses with electric school buses.

The administration says the rebates will help buy more than 3,400 such buses, 92% of which will be electric. It's something the Environmental Protection Agency claims will combat asthma and speed up the move to zero emission vehicles. So far, the EPA has awarded close to $3 billion for 8,500 school bus replacements.

The Biden administration announced Thursday it will award nearly $900 million for clean energy school buses to hundreds of school districts across the country.

Through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2023 Clean School Bus Program rebate competition, the agency selected more than 500 school districts to receiving the funding to replace diesel fueled school buses.

The Biden administration is dispersing nearly $900 million dollars in federal grants for school districts nationwide to decarbonize their bus fleets, despite child illiteracy continuing to plague children in the U.S. education system.

On Wednesday, the White House unveiled nearly $900 million in awards to 530 school districts to replace thousands of aging, gas-fueled school buses with "cleaner" electric models.
