FBI Director Wray Warns Senate of Increased Terror Threat on US Soil
The F.B.I. says the Israel-Hamas war raises the potential for an attack against the U.S.
Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. director, warned senators on Tuesday that the violence between Israel and Hamas has raised the potential for an attack against Americans in the United States to “a whole other level.”
“We assess that the actions of Hamas and its allies will serve as an inspiration the likes of which we haven’t seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate several years ago,” Mr. Wray said, referring to the Islamic State.
Hamas Could Inspire Attacks in US: FBI Director Wray
FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday said that the FBI has "multiple ongoing investigations into individuals affiliated with [Hamas]" during congressional testimony, indicating that the FBI warns that Hamas terrorists could be inspired by the Hamas attacks in Israel.
"We cannot and do not discount the possibility that Hamas or another foreign terrorist organization may exploit the current conflict to conduct attacks here on our own soil," Wray said during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing.

"The reality is that the terrorism threat has been elevated throughout 2023, but the ongoing war in the Middle East has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the United States to a whole other level," Wray told lawmakers on the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
