As young women move to the left ideologically and become more divided from their male counterparts, it’s affected the dating culture between the sexes.

The Divide: Fortesa Latifi of Teen Vogue (Left bias) interviewed several young people about the perils of dating in today’s hyper-political age. A 25-year-old conservative male claimed he found politics to be a bigger dealbreaker for women than men and that abortion views seemed to be “the biggest dealbreaker.” Conversely, a 25-year-old self-described “huge liberal” Mary said she was surprised to previously be so attracted to someone who voted for former President Donald Trump twice, but looking back, wouldn’t date someone that different politically from her again.

Male Faux-Feminists: Poppy Sowerby, writing for UnHerd (Center bias), argued politics are not an indicator of whether a man will treat a woman well because it’s too easy for men to pretend to fit a stereotype that women will see as safe. Sowerby argued, “We must do something to rehabilitate relations between young men and women… Failing that, bring back political lesbianism.”

Female Liberalism: Jennifer Galardi, writing for The Federalist (Right bias), described herself as a “former liberal” and penned an opinion questioning why women are drawn to the left. Galardi argued, “The left weaponizes women’s tendency to be more caring and nurturing” and “the feeling of being taken advantage of, dispossessed, or patronized.” Galardi argued some men do possess “evil paternalistic behavior” that may push women left, but that many of these men are often stereotypically liberal.
