New Twitter CEO Elon Musk tweeted calls for Dr. Anthony Fauci to be prosecuted over the weekend, sparking polarized reactions throughout the political media world.

Key Quotes: "My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci," Musk tweeted Sunday morning. When asked by another Twitter user if that remark would be explained in an upcoming Twitter Files release, Musk replied, "Yes." Former astronaut Scott Kelly criticized Musk's tweet and called Dr Fauci "a dedicated public servant whose sole motivation was saving lives." Musk replied that Fauci "lied to Congress and funded gain-of-function research that killed millions of people."

For Context: Musk has been a frequent critic of COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and restrictions. His "Twitter Files" transparency initiative continued over the weekend with two more releases detailing the platforms' decisions around banning former President Donald Trump. "Dr. Death" and "Go Elon" were trending on Twitter Monday morning.

How the Media Covered It: Left- and center-rated sources focused mostly on critics of Musk's tweets, including other epidemiologists and Democratic lawmakers, as well as continued concerns about Twitter's content moderation under Musk's leadership. Right-rated sources covered the development much differently, focusing on the basis for Musk's tweets, the continued Twitter Files releases, and scrutiny of Fauci.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk said more bombshell internal documents about the social media giant's censorship will be coming "big time."

The Twitter executive tweeted a meme of Dr. Anthony Fauci and President Joe Biden with the headline "Just one more lockdown, my king," at 5:19 a.m. on Sunday.

A Twitter user replied to his tweet, "When will we get the Twitter files on COVID?"

In a response to the tweet, Musk said, "Oh it is coming bigtime."

At 5:58 a.m., the Twitter executive tweeted, "My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci."

Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Sunday called to prosecute Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to President Biden who has led the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic since it started during the Trump administration, and drew swift backlash for his comment.

“My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci,” Musk said on Twitter. He later shared a meme edited to show Fauci telling Biden, “Just one more lockdown, my king.”

Lawmakers and other officials jumped to Fauci’s defense online.
