Donald Trump appeared to be grazed by a bullet on or near his ear while onstage at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. He was reportedly released from the hospital Saturday night.
The Details: At least two people were reportedly killed, including the apparent gunman, and two more were critically injured, according to the Secret Service. Voices can be heard saying "shooter down" less than a minute after the attempted assassination. At least one witness reported seeing a man with a rifle climb onto the roof of a nearby building shortly before the shots were heard. Secret Service agents swarmed the former president, who was bleeding but did not appear to be seriously injured. Video shows Secret Service snipers firing at the suspected shooter almost immediately after Trump is grazed. The shooter was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Key Quotes: A spokesperson for Trump said he was "fine." President Joe Biden said in a statement that "there's no place for this kind of violence in America." The Secret Service said the suspected shooter fired from "an elevated position outside of the rally venue."
How the Media Covered It: Many outlets across the spectrum didn't specify that Trump was shot at or grazed by a bullet until over an hour after the shooting. CNN (Lean Left bias) was criticized for a since-updated headline that read, "Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after he falls at rally."
