Former President Donald Trump said that it's a matter of when, not if, he'll formally announce a 2024 presidential run.

In an interview with New York Magazine (Left bias) published on Thursday, Trump said that his "big decision" is whether to announce his campaign before or after November's midterm elections. He went on to say that announcing his bid before the midterms could come with an advantage, preventing "a lot of people" from launching their own campaigns. "People want me to run,” Trump lauded.

Two Trump advisers told the Washington Post (Lean Left bias) that the former president is eyeing September to go public with his decision, which the report's headline suggests could end up "potentially upending midterms." Some advisers fear that Trump could be blamed for unexpected GOP losses if he announces his third bid for the White House too soon. While many analysts across the spectrum expect Democrats to "suffer defeats" in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections — a common outcome for the party of the president — it's more unclear whether the Republicans will manage to reclaim the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Left-rated outlets emphasized how Trump's "lies about a stolen election" paired with his actions during the Capitol riot are damaging his popularity among Republicans. Right-rated outlets highlighted polls that suggest Trump would still beat other GOP candidates in 2024 presidential election matchups.

Former President Donald Trump has decided whether or not he will run for president in 2024, according to New York magazine, telling the outlet in an interview that his "big decision" at this point is whether to make an announcement before or after the midterms--an issue that is reportedly a point of contention among his advisors.

Trump did not state whether he will run or not, but told New York: “I feel very confident that, if I decide to run, I’ll win.”

It has been unclear whether former President Donald Trump will run in the 2024 presidential election — until now.

Driving the news: In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Trump said he was still deciding when, not if, to announce his campaign.

“I would say my big decision will be whether I go before or after,” Trump said in an interview with Olivia Nuzzi, referring to the midterm elections in November.

Democrats aren’t just eager for Donald Trump to cannonball into the 2024 presidential race before the fall midterms. Across the country, they are actively plotting ways to immediately capitalize on a pre-November announcement.
