As Vice President Kamala Harris has all but surely become the Democratic nominee for president, some House Democrats in swing seats have yet to endorse her.

In the 48 hours since President Joe Biden announced he would step aside from the race, Harris has secured enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee and raised $100 million. While Biden was in the race but facing calls from a growing number of Democrats to drop out, some downballot Democrats worried about their chances of winning with Biden at the top of the ticket.

Congressional Democrats are cautiously coming to one conclusion: We’re no longer doomed.

President Joe Biden’s exit from the presidential race breathed new life in the fight for control of Congress, and the party’s candidates said they feel like they once again have a real chance at winning. Within 24 hours, many of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents coalesced behind Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee, eager to project unity after weeks of chaos.

The campaign texts with eye-roll inducing openers like “NOT ASKING FOR $” or “The 600% MATCH won’t last forever” are flooding all of our phones these days.

Jim Laws, a 70-year-old retired anesthetist in West Palm Beach, Fla., received a text in early June with a link to a survey about the state of the nation. The message said the sender wasn’t asking for money.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and former President Trump made efforts on Thursday to bury the hatchet and end their long-running feud as GOP confidence grows that the party could win both chambers of Congress and the White House this fall.

It was uncertain initially whether McConnell would even attend the lunch meeting hosted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) with Trump, given more than three years of acrimony between the two leaders stemming from Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election.

Former President Trump is endorsing former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan's Senate campaign run. Why it matters: Trump's comments to Fox News mark a surprising turn in Trump's posture toward the moderate Republican particularly after Hogan told voters to respect the jury's verdict in the New York hush money case. What we're watching: "I'd like to see him win. I think he has a good chance to win
I know other people made some strong statements, but I can just say from my standpoint, I'm about the party and I'm about...

Republican Tim Sheehy won his party’s nomination to run for Montana’s U.S. Senate seat on Tuesday, according to a race call by The Associated Press.

Sheehy, a former Navy Seal and entrepreneur, is a political newcomer taking on incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Tester in November. He addressed his lack of legislative experience head on at a dinner with Montana Republicans earlier this year.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia announced Friday he has registered as an independent, raising questions about his future political plans.

Manchin has often been at odds with the Democratic Party and an obstacle to many of President Joe Biden’s legislative priorities.

He had announced in November that he wouldn’t seek re-election to the Senate in the heavily GOP state, making Republicans heavy favorites to pick up a seat in their bid to retake the majority next year.
