Hunter Biden is pursing a different kind of cover-up.

Lawyers for the first son have demanded Fox News take down ā€œintimateā€ photos of the disgraced middle-aged presidential offspring or face a lawsuit.

In a letter dated April 23 and made public Monday, attorneys for the scandal-scarred Hunter, 54, accused Fox of making ā€œreprehensibleā€ use of ā€œsalaciousā€ and ā€œhackedā€ photos.

The younger Biden’s legal team took particular issue with ā€œThe Trial of Hunter Biden,ā€ a six-part series on the premium Fox Nation streaming service.

Lawyers for President Joe Biden’s son Hunter say they plan to sue Fox News ā€œimminently,ā€ according to a letter obtained by NewsNation.

ā€œFor the last five years, Fox News has relentlessly attacked Hunter Biden and made him a caricature in order to boost ratings and for its financial gain,ā€ his attorney, Mark Geragos, said in a statement. ā€œThe recent indictment of FBI informant (Alexander) Smirnov has exposed the conspiracy of disinformation that has been fueled by Fox, enabled by their paid agents and monetized by the Fox enterprise. We plan on holding them accountable.ā€

Hunter Biden is threatening to sue Fox News for defamation, exploitation of his image and publication of hacked photographs, according to a letter obtained by Axios that was sent to the news channel last week.

Why it matters: It's the latest salvo in the president's son's more aggressive legal and press strategy over the past year amid criminal charges and tabloid coverage, and first big move after navigating the impeachment inquiry into his father.

A federal judge ordered jail time Monday for the ex-FBI informant indicted for allegedly making false statements accusing Joe and Hunter Biden of taking bribes.

U.S. District Judge Otis Wright ruled that Alexander Smirnov, a former FBI confidential human source, is to be held in jail while awaiting trial on charges stemming from allegations he made to the FBI that Joe and Hunter Biden took $10 million worth of bribes from Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings.

An ex-FBI informant accused of lying about President Joe Biden and his son Hunter has high-level ties with Russian intelligence, US prosecutors say.

The allegations against Alexander Smirnov, 43, were outlined in new Department of Justice filings in the case on Tuesday.

Mr Smirnov is accused of lying when he claimed bribes were paid to the Bidens via a Ukrainian energy firm, Burisma.

He was charged last week with giving false statements to the FBI.

Mr Smirnov's claims were part of an ongoing effort by Republicans to impeach President Biden.

A former FBI informant and Biden impeachment inquiry witness has been charged with lying about the president and his son Hunter Biden’s involvement in business dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

The ex-informant, Alexander Smirnov, has also been charged with creating false records.

If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

Smirnov, 43, was arrested Thursday at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
