A settlement being discussed in an antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA and major college conferences could cost billions and pave the way for a compensation model for college athletes. An agreement has not been finalized and many questions remain unanswered. It is also unclear if new rules could withstand further legal scrutiny, but it appears college sports is heading down a revolutionary path with at least some schools directly paying athletes to participate. Here’s what is known and what still needs to be figured out: House vs. NCAA is a...

CBS will end its daytime talk show, ā€œThe Talkā€ in December after over a decade on-air. ā€œā€˜The Talk’ broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format,ā€ CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios president David Stapf said in a joint statement, per CBS Los Angeles (KCAL). ā€œThroughout the years, it has been a key program for CBS’ top rated daytime line-up as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the...

McHENRY, Ill. (CBS) -- The McHenry County Sheriff's office continued to search Friday for a missing dog involved in a series of attacks. The sheriff's office said it was called at 5:50 p.m. Thursday to break up a dog fight at Haumann Drive and Stilling Boulevard in McHenry Township, just outside the city of McHenry. The owner reported she had not been able to separate her dogs, who had been in a fight, and she had gotten bitten. A neighbor who volunteered to help also got bitten, according to the...

CHICAGO (CBS) – Days after the release of dozens of videos related to the police shooting death of Dexter Reed during a traffic stop last month, Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling was asked Friday about the shooting. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, or COPA, is investigating the shooting. The agency believes, based on preliminary evidence, that Reed fired at officers first, but there are still many unknowns about the conduct of the officers involved. Investigators were still looking into why Chicago police stopped Reed in the first place and...

Veteran investigative journalist Catherine Herridge testified before Congress Thursday, April 11, and discussed her firing from CBS News. She explained that she was let go on a Zoom call and locked out of her emails and office. Herridge said CBS then seized hundreds of her reporting files including confidential source information.

ā€œWhen the network of Walter Cronkite ceases your reporting files, including confidential source information, that is an attack on investigative journalism,ā€ Herridge said in a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

Former CBS News and Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge testified on Thursday about the ā€œjournalistic rapeā€ by CBS when the network seized her reporting files upon her dismissal.

ā€œI was locked out of my emails and I was locked out of the office. CBS News seized hundreds of pages of my reporting files including confidential source information,ā€ Herridge said in response to questioning from House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio.)
