The man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), offered an apology in court on Tuesday, claiming the former Speaker’s husband was ā€œneverā€ his target, according to the Associated Press.

In an emotional testimony on Tuesday, David DePape, 43, described to the court how his political views shifted from leftist to right wing after reading a comment on a YouTube video about former President Trump.

The man accused of brutally attacking former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband with a hammer apologized in court Tuesday, while describing conspiracy theories about why he went to the couple's San Francisco home to end what he viewed as government corruption.

In remarks that lasted more than an hour, a tearful David DePape explained how he switched from the political left to right after reading a comment on a YouTube video about former President Donald Trump.

David DePape, the man accused of attacking Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul with a hammer, went down a right-wing conspiracy theory rabbit hole believing outlandish accusations about the likes of George Soros, Rep. Adam Schiff, and even the Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, a jury heard Thursday.

Defense attorney Jodi Linker told jurors in a San Francisco federal courtroom in her opening statement that DePape, a onetime nude enthusiast-turned-hemp-jewelry maker, wholeheartedly believes, "Tom Hanks, the actor, raped a 13-year-old girl."

She claims to be the Queen of Canada, and now she's holding court in an abandoned school.

Romana Didulo, a QAnon-inspired conspiracy theorist, leads a group of supporters who have spent the last few years traveling around Canada in motorhomes and other vehicles.

Recently, the group moved into Richmound, a village of around 150 people in south-western Saskatchewan, and settled in at a former school.

False claims about the deadly wildfires in Hawaii - including that shadowy forces orchestrated the disaster with a laser beam - have gained traction online.

The misleading posts come from a variety of sources and accounts, but generally imply that "elites" or government agencies deliberately started the fires.

Some of the most popular theories are couched in questions about a "narrative" and make claims that alternative views are being "censored", despite collecting millions of views.

Memphis authorities have released police bodycam footage from a Jan. 7 traffic stop that preceded the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols, who spent three days in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries, according to authorities.

On Jan. 8, District Attorney General Steve Mulroy requested that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conduct an outside investigation into the deadly encounter.

Nichols ran from officers after a traffic stop at Raines and Ross Roads at 8:22 p.m., TBI said in a statement Thursday.

The city of Memphis released graphic video footage on Friday of the violent encounter between Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, and the five police officers charged with murder in his beating death after a traffic stop earlier this month.

One video clip shows officers dragging Nichols from the driver's seat of his car as he yells, "Damn, I didn't do anything ... I am just trying to go home," and force him to the ground as they order him to lay on his stomach, then squirt him in the face with pepper spray.

Video showing five Memphis officers beating a Black man was made public Friday, one day after they were charged with murder in the death of Tyre Nichols.

The footage shows Nichols being held down, struck by the Black officers and screaming for his mother as the police savagely beat the 29-year-old FedEx worker for three minutes. The Nichols family legal team has likened the assault to the infamous 1991 police beating of Los Angeles motorist Rodney King.

Cities across the country braced for large demonstrations. Nichols’ relatives urged supporters to protest peacefully.
