Shares of Dow Inc. DOW, shed 1.64% to $48.53 Tuesday, on what proved to be an all-around great trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index SPX, rising 0.28% to 4,378.38 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, rising 0.17% to 34,152.60. This was the stock's second consecutive day of losses. Dow Inc. closed $12.35 below its 52-week high ($60.88), which the company achieved on February 7th. Oil stocks got a broad boost Monday, as the attack on Israel by Hamas sent crude oil prices surging. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF XLE, jumped 2.2% in premarket trading, with all of the components that have traded gaining ground. If the Dow closes higher Thursday for a 14th consecutive session, that would be its longest run of consecutive gains since May 1897.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A massive explosion at the Dow Chemical plant in Iberville Parish Friday night left people who live there in an awe. Joel Seneca is a longtime resident in Iberville Parish. He remembers rushing for safety when multiple fires occurred. “We decided to pack up and leave. Turn the a/coff, and leave and go to my sister’s house,” Joel Seneca said. People like Seneca are concerned about the long-term impact of a plant fire. “It’s about chemicals. The explosion would have to be a big one...

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed Friday as strong earnings results from some of the biggest banks and companies kicked off earnings season.

The 30-stock Dow added 113.89 points, or 0.33%, to close at 34,509.03 and mark its fifth consecutive day of gains. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 dropped 0.10% to close at 4,505.42. The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.18%, ending at 14,113.70. Both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq touched their highest intraday levels since April 2022.

A series of explosions rocked a Dow Chemical facility in Louisiana late Friday, lighting the night sky orange and shaking homes miles away, according to reports and officials. No injuries were immediately reported and no chemical leak was detected in the fiery scene at the sprawling complex near Plaquemine, about 20 miles southwest of Baton Rouge. The incident began around 9:15 p.m. in a part of the facility that handles the flammable and highly carcinogenic chemical ethylene oxide, Baton Rouge’s Advocate newspaper reported, citing government officials. IBERVILLE PARISH, La. - Several emergency officials and law enforcement are at the Dow Chemical Plant located in Iberville Parish after reports of several explosions.

Emergency preparedness sent out an alert around 9:40pm, informing residence to stay indoors and turn off their ac.

A shelter-in-place has been issued within a half a mile radius.

IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Emergency officials are on the scene of multiple explosions in Iberville Parish.

It appears to be near the area of the Dow Chemical Plant, according to Sheriff Brett Stassi.

Officials said no word yet on injuries reported.

Deputies are on scene and investigating to get more information.
