With two full days of events and programs along with performances by Wu-Tang Clan, Redman, and Thundercat, the 2024 National Cannabis Festival will be bigger than ever this year. Leading up to the festivities on Friday and Saturday at Washington, D.C.’s RFK Stadium are plenty of can’t-miss experiences planned for 420 Week, including the National Cannabis Policy Summit and an LGBTQ happy hour hosted by the District’s Black-owned queer bar, Thurst Lounge (both happening on Wednesday). On Tuesday, the Blade caught up with NCF Founder and Executive Producer Caroline Phillips,...

Gov. Maura Healey and lawmakers are talking tough now but dropped the ball on Steward Health Care and missed warning signs for years that could have prevented the company from tanking. The state’s toothless laws, lack of regulation and cozy relationships with health care executives all contributed to the for-profit Steward’s demise, but now Massachusetts elected officials are ducking responsibility and laying all the blame on Steward. ā€œI don’t want to lose sight of the fact that this situation stems from and is rooted in greed, mismanagement and lack of...

President Joe Biden's win in New Hampshire, despite not appearing on the ballot and facing low polling numbers, shows that Democrats are energized around their presumptive 2024 nominee, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren told Newsweek. While Biden has a virtual lock on his party's nomination heading into the election, he faced the possibility of defeat in New Hampshire because the Democratic National Committee voted in 2022 to move its first-in-the-nation primary from the Granite State to the more racially diverse South Carolina.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and US senator Elizabeth Warren have sparred over financial regulation for more than a decade. But in a rare occurrence during a Senate Banking Committee hearing yesterday (Dec. 6), they adopted the same stance. Both want to see the US government get a lot tougher on crypto.

ā€œThe only true use case for it is criminals, drug traffickers, money laundering, [and] tax avoidance,ā€ Dimon said. ā€œIf I was the government, I’d close it down.ā€

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren expressed her displeasure Sunday over the potential monopoly status over purchasing sandwich companies.

ā€œWe don’t need another private equity deal that could lead to higher food prices for consumers. The @FTC is right to investigate whether the purchase of @SUBWAY by the same firm that owns @jimmyjohns and @McAlistersDeli creates a sandwich shop monopoly,ā€ Warren said on X.

Subway might not be the only one that's freshly baked. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D–Mass.) thinks the government should investigate America's alleged "sandwich shop monopoly." "We don't need another private equity deal that could lead to higher food prices for consumers," Warren tweeted a Sunday. She was responding to a Politico piece reporting that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is probing the private equity firm Roark Capital's $10 billion acquisition of Subway. Roark already owns the sandwich-serving chains Arby's, Jimmy Johns, McAlister's Deli, and Schlotzky's.

The senator recently opposed what she says would constitute a sandwich shop monopoly. THE CHALLENGES MATT GAETZ FACES AFTER LEADING HOUSE INTO UNCERTAINTY Earlier this year, the private equity firm Roark Capital signed a $10 billion purchase agreement to buy Subway — the company already owns sandwich shops such as Jimmy John's, Arby's, McAlister's Deli, and Schlotzky's. "We don't need another private equity deal that could lead to higher food prices for consumers,ā€ Warren posted on X, the social media website formerly called Twitter. ā€œThe @FTC is right to investigate...

WASHINGTON - Massachusetts senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey both praised the long career of California Senator Dianne Feinstein Friday, hours after her death. Feinstein was the longest-serving woman in the U.S. Senate. She was 90 years old. "From leading an assault weapons ban to championing LGBTQ+ rights and becoming the first woman to lead the Senate Rules and Intelligence committees, Dianne Feinstein broke barriers and fought for the American people. My heart goes out to her family and loves ones," said Warren in a statement. Markey also released a...
