At-home tests dramatically reduced death rates for this kind of cancer, study finds
Over the nearly two-decade period studied, starting in 2000, the initiative reduced colorectal cancer incidence and mortality by 30% and 50%, respectively, across all racial and ethnic groups, the analysis found. The program also largely eliminated racial disparities in cancer rates and deaths that were previously disproportionately high among Black patients. The findings are significant because they highlight the importance of bringing early detection for a common and deadly disease — colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.
