Vice President Kamala Harris spoke to a United Nations commission about the need to empower women around the globe — saying democracy ā€œdepends fundamentally on the empowerment of womenā€ — while she still hasn’t mentioned a word about the mounting accusations of sexual harassment against Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The latest sexual misconduct allegation made against New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo has reportedly been referred to the Albany Police Department, which said that the incident may have risen ā€œto the level of a crime.ā€

A spokesperson for the department said that the woman, whose identity has not been released, has not filed a police report. The department does not appear to have opened a criminal investigation into the governor, though it has reached out to the alleged victim.

President Donald Trump has made looting and law and order a centerpiece of his re-election campaign. Setting aside temporarily the coded racial implications of this position, based on dozens of women's accounts, the president cares far more about the property of businesses than he does the bodily autonomy of women around him.

It was a breathtaking story, written by The New Yorker’s marquee reporter and published with an attention-grabbing headline: ā€œMissing Files Motivated the Leak of Michael Cohen’s Financial Records.ā€

In April 2019, a woman named Tara Reade reached out to me with a clear, consistent story to tell about her experience as a staffer in Joe Biden’s Senate office in 1993. I spent hours on the phone with her, and many more tracking down possible witnesses and documents, trying to confirm her account.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Tara Reade, the former Senate staffer who alleges Joe Biden sexually assaulted her 27 years ago, says she filed a limited report with a congressional personnel office that did not explicitly accuse him of sexual assault or harassment.

ā€œI remember talking about him wanting me to serve drinks because he liked my legs and thought I was pretty and it made me uncomfortable,ā€ Reade said in an interview Friday with The Associated Press. ā€œI know that I was too scared to write about the sexual assault.ā€

Monday night, I went to a special screening of the new film ā€œBombshell,ā€ which tells the true story of the downfall of late Fox News honcho — and verifiable sleaze ball — Roger Ailes.

Having worked inside the corridors of Fox myself years ago, Jay Roach’s stylized, nuanced and biting portrayal of the Ailes era felt very familiar.

I know the stories. I personally know many of Roger’s victims, as well as the culture that pervaded that network.
