NBC News’ Steve Kornacki will not return to MSNBC after 12 years following the network’s spinoff arrangement.

Kornacki, the popular political data sensation, has agreed to remain with NBC News in his renewed contract and expand his appearances across the network’s news and sports divisions, The Los Angeles Times reported. The contract does not include his employment at MSNBC, which has turned into a new corporate entity by its parent company, Comcast.

The Nation’s justice correspondent Elie Mystal argued on “Morning Joe” Monday that all U.S. voter registration laws should be eliminated.

Mystal argued that any American should only have to meet eligibility requirements, such as age, in order to cast a ballot during elections, suggesting that voter registration has a racist and anti-immigrant undertone. He stated that voting rights need to be expanded in order to help more Democrats vote.

MSNBC’s shake-up drew sharp criticism from Rachel Maddow, who condemned the network’s decision to cancel the shows of Joy Reid and Alex Wagner. Maddow highlighted concerns over diversity, noting that both non-white prime-time hosts were cut.

Joy Reid reacted emotionally to her show’s cancellation, expressing feelings of disappointment and guilt over her team losing their jobs.

The network overhaul, led by new president Rebecca Kutler, aims to reshape MSNBC’s prime-time lineup amid ratings challenges and the return of Donald Trump to the White House.

MSNBC is dramatically shaking up its lineup — and the shocking changes will result in the end of Joy Reid’s decade-long tenure at the network.

On Sunday, Variety and The New York Times reported that Reid’s 7 p.m. weeknight show, The ReidOut, is being canceled and will air its final episode this week. Mediaite has confirmed, through a source familiar with the changes at MSNBC, that Reid will be leaving the network completely as a result. She has been a host with MSNBC since 2014, and has piloted The ReidOut since 2020.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid said Black people who vote for former President Trump over Vice President Harris, the likely Democratic nominee, are “going to look real crazy.”

“Given just the stratospheric entrance of Vice President Kamala Harris into the presidential campaign, and she has now secured enough delegates to become the nominee, you’re going to look real crazy being on the other side of that line, particularly as a person of color, but really as anyone who claims to have any connection to the culture,” Reid said in a video posted to TikTok.

Joe Scarborough, the former congressman, ally of President Biden and influential host of the MSNBC show “Morning Joe,” on Thursday morning all but called on Mr. Biden’s aides to help him exit the race.

Mr. Scarborough has been blunt that the president’s debate performance against former President Donald J. Trump on June 27 was calamitous but has also interviewed Mr. Biden since and was sympathetic to him in the days following the debate. On Thursday, the host cited polling for the president that has taken a massive slide and fund-raising that has disappeared.

For the second time in only a few months, questions about the NBC News Group chairman’s leadership were raised in extraordinary fashion, with the “Morning Joe” team on Tuesday publicly expressing dismay that NBC brass had the day before pulled their broadcast from the air in wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The progressive news network confirmed the decision to preempt its influential and top-rated morning show after a CNN inquiry Sunday evening. The network said the show will resume airing Tuesday.

MSNBC's popular morning show "Morning Joe" did not air Monday, the same day the 2024 Republican National Convention commences, sparking speculations over whether the decision has anything to do with the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

A network spokesperson told USA TODAY the show, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, was taken off-air because the channel has stayed in rolling breaking news coverage since the shooting broke out Saturday evening.
