Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency he leads claim to have unearthed evidence to prove a longstanding conspiracy theory about Democrats orchestrating illegal voting by noncitizens on a scale large enough to swing national elections in their favor. But voting experts say the claims are highly dubious, and DOGE hasn’t released any evidence.

New York's top court will consider a city law allowing noncitizens to register to vote in New York City's elections this week.

The court will hear arguments in the case on Tuesday, with lawyers for Democrats arguing in favor of legislation the city already passed to allow noncitizen voters. If successful, the over 800,000 noncitizens living in the Big Apple would be able to cast ballots in city-level contests like mayoral elections. Proponents of the bill claim noncitizens are being unfairly taxed.

The Biden administration said it formally opposes a Republican-led bill that would require voters to prove their U.S. citizenship in order to vote in federal elections. The statement was covered by a several outlets from the right, but AllSides didn't find coverage from the center or left.

Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego has consistently said that he opposes allowing anyone other than United States citizens to vote in Arizona and in federal elections. But in a campaign ad attacking him, Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake misleadingly claims that the congressman “supports … allowing illegals to vote.”

(The Center Square) — The right to serve as law enforcement shouldn’t belong solely to U.S. citizens, but also to individuals who have been granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, according to Senate Bill 69.

The legislation passed the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate.

DACA was passed under President Barack Obama and allows people between the ages of 15 and 41 who were brought or came to the U.S. illegally before 2007 and before the age of 16 to stay, and authorizes them for work.

The District of Columbia is preparing for the country’s biggest experiment yet with noncitizen voting, which has been on the books for nearly a year and will go live in its first election in 2024.

As of mid-December, the city said, three people registered — all showing up in person. Officials hope for more interest when online registration opens to noncitizens this year.

Jurisdictions across the country are testing the waters for allowing noncitizens, including illegal immigrants in many cases, to cast ballots in local elections. Most are finding scant interest.
