Twitter Inc. suspended the accounts of several journalists Thursday without publicly specifying why, the latest instance of the platform making content or user decisions under Elon Musk without much transparency.

The accounts belonged to journalists from publications including CNN, the Washington Post, the New York Times and Mashable. Representatives for the outlets said they didn’t receive any explanation of why the accounts were suspended.

Before the 2020 election, Twitter executives were "clearly liaising with federal enforcement and intelligence agencies about moderation of election-related content," according to Friday's dump of the "Twitter files," as reported by Matt Taibbi.

According to the information provided by Elon Musk, Twitter executive Yoel Roth "not only met weekly with the FBI and DHS, but with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

In these three tweets, Taibbi describes what was going on in the weeks before the 2020 election through January 6, 2021:

Spencer caught the first trove of the ‘Twitter files,’ which detailed the protocols the social media giant took to censor the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop, the real October Surprise of the 2020 election, which could have impacted the result if the media did their jobs. Instead, they wanted to win an election, dump Trump, and would intentionally not inform voters of the alleged corruption that permeated the Biden family.

Twitter executives told Congress they did not "shadow ban" people for their political views. But they certainly did, according to the most recent (second) dump of the "Twitter files," which focuses on Twitter's "secret blacklist."

New York has become the latest state to pass a patently unconstitutional social-media regulation bill. The Social Media Hate Speech Accountability Act, which went into effect on Monday, requires any social-media site that operates in New York to set up a public channel via which users can report so-called hate speech, and obliges the sites’ owners to respond directly to anyone who uses it. If they refuse, they may be fined up to $1,000 per day.

A government-only web portal to allow reporting of alleged disinformation to Facebook to be "throttled or suppressed," Homeland Security bureaucrats nudging tech companies to be more "responsive" to their requests to censor information, concern about online posts related to President Biden's withdrawal of U.S.

Progressives do not regret anything about the censorship of social media.

Should the Left be so afraid of Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter? Many certainly are afraid. Twitter is a relatively small social-media service, but it is the playpen of the mainstream media. It’s where journalists and other media figures go to discover the conventional wisdom, and to participate in its creation. The New York Times carried no fewer than five alarmed articles about the purchase on its homepage last Thursday.

The Media Research Center’s FreeSpeech America division conducted a study that caught Google burying 83% of Senate Republican Party candidates’ campaign websites in comparison to their Democratic competitors, who appeared as the top searches in organic search results.

“Google must be investigated for its un-American efforts to sway the election,” L. Brent Bozell, founder and president of the Media Research Center, told Free Speech America.

Hours after his appearance Tuesday afternoon on the Fox News Channel’s America Reports, MRC Founder and President Bozell rejoined the Fox airwaves on the Fox Business Network’s The Evening Edit and then Fox News @ Night with Trace Gallagher. On both, Bozell took a blowtorch to Google’s “monopoly [on] information” censorsing Republican candidates and the liberal media’s downplaying of the southern border crisis.
