The pending development of a $3 billion seaport in Peru will grant China direct access to the South American trade market and will be the first China-controlled port in South America. This and other proposed port development projects illustrate Beijing’s ambitions to strengthen its footprint and influence in diverse regions around the world. The U. S. must increase economic engagement in Latin America to offer the region competitive alternatives for its development. For several decades, policymakers in Washington have paid minimal attention to Latin America.

So far this year, 28 people have died from dengue, official data shows, in the midst of a heat wave and heavy rains, which are favorable conditions for the reproduction of mosquitoes that transmit the disease.

"I came here to feel something. And I definitely have. I have done shaman ceremonies that were like 10 years worth of therapy, it was wild," he explained. "I’ve seen a lot of llamas. The people here are so kind. I feel very safe here. It’s a little sad that I had to leave my country to feel safe but that will get better eventually." Before the escape to Peru, Mulvaney slammed Bud Light for a lack of support after their marketing partnership fiasco. The beer giant lost almost $20...
