It was all hands on deck for the Magic on Friday night at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Unfortunately for the Magic, they lost 125-113 to finish their trip at 0-3 going into Sunday’s 1 p.m. regular-season finale at home against Milwaukee. A victory over the 76ers would have provided Orlando a playoff spot (top 6 seed) in the East and its first Southeast Division title since 2019. The Magic (46-35), despite the return to the starting lineup of third-year forward Franz Wagner (right ankle sprain) and veteran guard Gary...

CLEVELAND -- The Pacers missed out on an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth, falling 129-120 to the Cavaliers on Friday night at Rocket Mortgage Arena. The Pacers fell to 46-35, staying in sixth place in the East. The Cavaliers improved to 48-33 and clinched a playoff berth. Here are four observations. Pacers rally in second half but get done in by key mistakes The Pacers nearly erased a 14-point first-half deficit with a strong second half and particularly strong third quarter, but they were done in down the stretch...

PHILADELPHIA — The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has “terminated with cause” its contract with the U.S. affiliate of Chinese railcar manufacturer CRRC for 45 bilevel commuter railcars, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The contract was awarded in 2017, and the first cars were to have been completed in 2019 [see “SEPTA awards bid for Chinese bilevel cars,” Trains News Wire, March 24, 2017], but none have been delivered. The $185 million contract underbid Bombardier, the only other finalist, by $34 million; it came at a time when CRRC had yet to...

A male Philadelphian whom authorities allege masqueraded as a nurse faces multiple charges after 14 women accused him of sexually assaulting them at an urgent care center in northern Philadelphia, according to statements. Ramon Garcia, 33, faces 24 felony and misdemeanor criminal charges including aggravated indecent assault, privacy invasion, lasciviousness and impersonation, among others, according to a Friday statement from Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele. The 24 charges are additional, the statement said.

But now, the area is slated to be home to a new rail hub after Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens announced his intention to build four new MARTA infill stations. Where exactly it might fit into the canopy of retail and residential buildings is a good question, said George Banks, who was one of the original Krog Street Market developers more than a decade ago. “I think the Krog station is interesting because it’s the one place where the real estate needs it the least,” Banks said. “But since the traffic...

After much hype, the Philadelphia 76ers officially immortalized Allen Iverson outside the team's practice facility on Friday afternoon. A large crowd of fans, media and even Iverson himself were on hand to witness the unveiling of a bronze statue depicting one of the franchise's greatest players. But fans on social media couldn't help but notice one teeny, tiny problem with the new statue. I mean, it's nice. I just thought it'd be bigger. (TWSS) Iverson isn't exactly a large dude, by NBA standards. The now-48-year-old stands 6 feet tall, and...

On Friday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pennslyvania, the 76ers hosted a sculpture unveiling ceremony to honor NBA legend and cultural icon Allen Iverson. Many former teammates, fans, and the media were in attendance. Iverson gave everything he had to the organization and then some, leading it to new heights and living up to the expectations that were put upon him. So, how do the 76ers respond to that? Well, that responded with a comically small statue to honor his legacy. Check out the size of this one. To no one's surprise,...

Across the street from the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia on Friday, lawyers took their fight over the constitutionality of New Jersey ballots that use the “county line” design to the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals — where a three-judge panel promised a speedy ruling as early as next week. The case brought by New Jersey Rep. Andy Kim to stop the controversial ballot design for the June primary has won a preliminary injunction from a lower federal court. First lady Tammy Murphy, who was Kim's chief competitor for the...

On Thursday night, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) participated in a “Politics and Pints” conversation at a community college in the Philadelphia suburbs. Paul was the guest of Dom Giordano, a radio talk show host on Philadelphia’s WPHT 1210 am. Speaking to a standing-room-only crowd at Zlock Performing Arts Center at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pa., Kentucky’s junior senator took questions from Giordano as the two sat in two chairs on a stage. They touched on many political topics, including the COVID pandemic, masks, vaccines, congressional hearings with Dr....

The driver of a Ford electric SUV involved in a February fatal crash in Texas was using the company’s partially automated driving system before the wreck, federal investigators said Thursday. Data from the 2022 Mustang Mach E SUV showed that Ford’s “Blue Cruise” driver-assist system was in use ahead of the Feb. 24 crash, according to a preliminary report released Thursday by the National Transportation Safety Board. The crash is one of two recent fatal wrecks involving Ford Mustang Mach Es that are under investigation by the NTSB and the...
