Yesterday’s much-discussed debate between Douglas Murray and Dave Smith, hosted by Joe Rogan, almost perfectly epitomises the divide on the political Right. Murray is a neoconservative intellectual and one of the most prominent public defenders of Israel; Smith is an anti-war libertarian comedian and firm anti-Zionist. The conflict in Gaza has provided a clear fault line for their differences to be exposed.

Recently, Newsom has undergone cosmetic surgery for his brand. Newsom spent years presenting himself as one of the faces of the progressive movement, but President Donald Trump’s dispatching of fellow Golden State liberal Kamala Harris persuaded Newsom that to act on his well-established ambitions in 2028, he would need to ditch the unpopular agenda that doomed Harris. 

Gavin Newsom, distancing himself from some of the liberal policies he embraced as California governor, has embarked on an experiment ahead of a potential presidential run: hosting a podcast featuring right-wing guests, including former Trump strategist Stephen K. Bannon and conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The gambit has achieved one of Newsom’s perennial goals: making himself part of the nation’s political conversation as he seeks to portray himself as a disrupter within the Democratic Party.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) new podcast hosting prominent supporters of President Trump is raising questions about his political strategy as he wraps up his tenure as governor and keeps the door open to a 2028 presidential run.  

The first few episodes of “This is Gavin Newsom” have found the governor seeking common ground with conservative figures like Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon. The show has also seen Newsom break with Democrats on the issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports, calling it “deeply unfair.”  

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom infamously dodged a recall election, dined out at a fancy restaurant during mass COVID-19 lockdowns, and pivoted from massive deadly wildfire mismanagement. 

He is now running a podcast where he invites staunch conservatives for debate.

All of which has Democrats seeing red.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear took a swipe Thursday at a fellow leading Democrat, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, for hosting one of the most prominent figures in the MAGA movement on his new podcast.

Beshear, whose popularity in a heavily Republican state has turned him into a potential presidential candidate, told reporters that Newsom shouldn’t have opened his platform to Steve Bannon, an outspoken advocate of the “America first” agenda of President Donald Trump.

Governor Gavin Newsom has sparked considerable controversy with his inaugural “This is Gavin Newsom” podcast, featuring right-wing provocateur Charlie Kirk.

But, before that podcast aired, and even before we knew Kirk would be the first guest, we saw in this announcement that he was going to be attempting to build a new platform to speak directly to voters, to try and hear both sides, and, in effect, try to rebrand himself.

Gov. Gavin Newsom defended his handling of the raging fires in the Los Angeles area with a new website intended to combat "misinformation" that also links to Democratic Party fundraising giant ActBlue, Fox News Digital found.
