I find Armstrong Williams’ recent column about Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott unfair and unduly critical of a reasonably effective administration (“Armstrong Williams: Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott cares more about politics than public safety,” April 10). The author apparently finds the fact that the number of homicides finally fell below 300 per year in 2022 as disappointing, but it certainly is better than what other Baltimore mayors have achieved over the last few administrations. And Williams fails to mention that there were 262 people murdered in Baltimore in 2023, a decrease...

Millions of bags of laundry pods are being recalled because the packages aren't child resistant and could pose a serious risk, a federal safety regulatory agency warned Friday.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warning covers 8.4 million Proctor and Gamble Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods and Ariel Pods liquid laundry detergent packets packaged in flexible film bags that were distributed in the United States.

The U.S. CDC on Friday issued a health alert to inform clinicians, state health departments and the public of a case of avian influenza in a person who had contact with dairy cows presumed to be infected with the virus.

The farm worker from Texas was reported to be infected on April 1, making it the second case of the H5N1 strain of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, identified in a person in the United States.

It follows a 2022 case in Colorado, and comes as the virus is spreading to new mammals, including dairy cattle for the first time.

Dozens of illegal immigrants and local activists occupied a rec area at a Seattle community center and public school, demanding someone pick up the tab for the hotel where they had been staying.

Sources told The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI that staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation arrived at the Garfield Community Center Wednesday morning to find the Venezuelan illegal immigrants in tents on the tennis courts. The property is shared with Garfield High School in the Seattle Public School district.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of almost 285,000 Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300 vehicles because of an issue with the curtain air bag inflators. The inflators on both the right and left sides of the vehicles may cause the bags to rupture, the NHTSA said. The recall affects some 2018 to 2021 Chargers and Chrysler 300s Dealers will replace both side curtain airbags for free. Owners will receive letters about the issue after May 3. For more information, owners can contact FCA US, LLC directly...

Boeing has erased security footage showing 'repairs' being made to an Alaska Airlines flight months before a door plug blew out at 16,000 feet sparking a massive federal probe into airline safety.

National Transportation Safety Board officials noted in a letter to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation that the Boeing 737-9 plane underwent rivet repairs in September 2023.

Boeing’s problems are rippling across major U.S. airlines.

Airlines are cutting back on flying and tempering plans to hire pilots and flight attendants as they prepare to receive fewer Boeing planes than they had planned at the start of the year.

Southwest Airlines said Tuesday that it would cut flight capacity and re-evaluate its financial guidance, citing lower-than-expected deliveries of Boeing jets. The carrier’s shares tumbled around 15% in afternoon trading, as the carrier also reported weaker leisure-travel demand early this year.

(WJET/WFXP) – Pennsylvania updated a new school bus law to increase child safety before and after school.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated the program guidelines for the School Bus Side Stop Signal Arm Enforcement Systems with further instructions on the hearing process and other reminders for the program.

The New York governor's plan to send hundreds of National Guard members to patrol New York City's subway system has drawn sharp criticism.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday that she would deploy 750 members of the National Guard and 250 state troopers, along with officers from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, to assist city police with bag searches.

It follows a series of high-profile crimes on city trains in recent years, including an attack last week on a train conductor, who was slashed in the neck by an unknown assailant.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is sending in the state National Guard to New York City to help police curb a surge in crime in the city’s subways.

Announcing a five-point plan on Wednesday, the Democratic governor said she was deploying 750 members of the National Guard to the subways to assist the New York Police Department with bag searches at entrances to busy train stations.
