The House Ethics Committee said it is gathering facts in a review of potential campaign finance violations by Michigan Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib.

Federal Election Commission filings show that after Tlaib's election in 2018, to her first term, she paid herself a total of $17,500 from her campaign chest. Although congressional candidates can pay themselves during their election cycle, they are restricted from drawing a salary after they are elected.

Right-wing outlets and people who don’t season their wings right are up in arms after a Democratic congresswoman made a statement based on nothing but data, facts and peer-reviewed scientific research.

After Monday’s meeting, Tlaib was asked by a Detroit News reporter if by her remarks she meant that white people aren’t fit to analyze facial recognition software data.

“No, I think there has actually been studies out that it’s hard for — African Americans would identify African Americans, or Latinos, same thing.”

The next day in a prepared response, Tlaib spokesperson Denzel McCampbell provided the newspaper with a link to the study in question.

“The studies (Tlaib mentioned are) related to cross-race effect or other-race effect,” McCampbell said.

The Israeli interior minister Aryeh Deri said Rep. Rashida Tlaib had more "hatred for Israel" than she had "love for her grandmother" after the Michigan Democrat turned down an offer to come to the West Bank to visit her family.

"I authorized this humanitarian trip, but it turns out that it was a provocation to embarrass Israel. Her hatred for Israel overcomes her love for her grandmother," Deri said Friday.

Rashida Tlaib, the Democratic U.S. House member barred by Israel because of her support of a boycott, said she is rejecting the country’s new offer to let her visit her grandmother in the West Bank saying the terms are too restrictive.

“Silencing me & treating me like a criminal is not what she wants for me. It would kill a piece of me. I have decided that visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in -- fighting against racism, oppression & injustice,” the Michigan lawmaker said Friday on Twitter.

Israel's interior ministry announced Friday that it would allow Tlaib to enter the country as a private citizen to visit her aging grandmother, after it banned her and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., from going on a political trip amid pressure from President Trump.

In a statement Friday morning, Tlaib said that she "decided to not travel to Palestine and Israel at this time. Visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions meant to humiliate me would break my grandmother's heart."
