Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s Twitter account posted — and then quickly deleted — a tweet that characterized a district attorney with whom the governor is in a dispute as the “most drunk Democrat in Texas,” according to a report.
A picture of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, modeled after Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World” ad campaign, was tweeted from the verified “@GovernorPerry” account on Sunday. “I don’t always drive drunk at 3x the legal blood alcohol limit

but when I do, I indict Gov. Perry for calling

Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry says a disparaging tweet from his personal account about the Democratic district attorney he’s charged with unlawfully trying to oust was unauthorized.

A tweet from Perry’s account Sunday, after the other post was deleted, said he does “not condone the tweet.” The tweets were sent from Perry’s verified account, but it was unclear who does the actual posting for the feed. Perry aides did not immediately return messages.

Turning a potential liability into a strength, Texas Governor Rick Perry is putting his police mug shot — the symbol of his indictment on felony abuse-of-power charges — on a T-shirt to raise money. For a $25 donation to Mr. Perry’s political action committee, RickPAC, a shirt with the image and the text: WANTED: For securing the border and defeating Democrats can be yours.

As his lawyers in Texas worked to have the indictment against him dismissed, Gov. Rick Perry flew here on Friday to continue laying the groundwork for a possible 2016 presidential bid, exuding confidence as he spoke with businessmen and women in this first-in-the-nation primary state.

Mr. Perry, a Republican, was the picture of nonchalance, musing on topics like states’ rights, the rule of law and securing the border, all before he was asked to comment on an indictment last week that charged him with abusing his power.

A defiant Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, was booked on Tuesday on two felony charges related to his handling of a local political controversy.
Perry voluntarily appeared at the Travis County Court to be fingerprinted and to have his mug shot taken.
"I'm going to enter this courthouse with my head held high knowing that the actions I took were not only lawful and legal but right," Perry told reporters.

Texas Governor Rick Perry will go to the Travis County criminal courthouse in Austin today to be booked on charges of public corruption, his lawyer, Tony Buzbee, said.

Perry’s defense lawyers have rejected his indictment by a grand jury last week as an attempt to criminalize politics and damage his prospects as a potential presidential candidate in 2016.

Perry says he is fighting a criminal indictment with the law on his side — not to mention a team of high-powered attorneys with formidable records in big cases.
