Rudolph W. Giuliani — the former mayor of New York, top federal prosecutor and a longtime ally of former President Donald J. Trump — has been disbarred from the practice of law effective immediately, a New York State appellate court ruled on Tuesday.

The ruling continued the downfall of a disgraced lawyer who once portrayed himself as a crusader for law and order, challenged mob bosses and Wall Street operators and, after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, became, for many, a national hero.

Rudy Giuliani’s New York law license was revoked on Tuesday amid allegations that he assisted former President Donald Trump’s failed effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Giuliani’s law license remains under review in Washington, D.C.

Hunter Biden is dropping his lawsuit accusing Rudy Giuliani and the former New York City mayor’s ex-lawyer of manipulating data found on his infamous laptop. 

Biden’s lawyer Abbe Lowell filed the stipulation for dismissal Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. 

The attorney asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit against Giuliani and Robert Costello “without prejudice, with each party bearing its own attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses.”

Why it matters: Giuliani, who was served the same day as his 80th birthday party in Palm Beach, Florida, is the last defendant indicted in the case. It made Arizona the fourth state to charge electors with falsely casting votes for Trump in states President Biden picked up.

An Arizona grand jury has indicted 18 allies of Donald Trump for their efforts to subvert the 2020 election — including former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Boris Epshteyn.

The indictment, which includes felony counts of conspiracy, fraud and forgery, also describes Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator.

“Defendants and unindicted coconspirators schemed to prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency to keep Unindicted Coconspirator 1 in office against the will of Arizona’s voters,” the 58-page indictment reads.

An Arizona grand jury indicted a group of Republican figures over the effort to overturn the 2020 election, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

"Arizona's election was free and fair. The people of Arizona elected President Biden," said Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, on Wednesday in a video from Phoenix.

A grand jury in Arizona has returned an indictment for several close associates of former President Donald Trump as well as lower-level individuals who served as false electors in Arizona during the 2020 presidential election. The Office of Attorney General Kris Mayes has charged all of them with a conspiracy under Arizona state law to overturn the popular vote in the state.

The list of indicted co-defendants includes seven national figures: Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Boris Epshteyn, Mike Roman, Jenna Ellis, and Christina Bobb.
