Oakland officials have voted in favor of changing the name of the city’s airport to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, despite San Francisco threatening a lawsuit over what it says is a trademark violation. The Board of Commissioners for the Port of Oakland voted unanimously Thursday to move forward with the name-change and scheduled a second vote for final approval on May 9. The airport is currently called Oakland International Airport. Oakland airport officials have said travelers unfamiliar with the region fly into San Francisco’s airport even if their...

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson each scored 31 points, and the New Orleans Pelicans beat Sacramento 135–123 on Thursday night to complete a five-game season sweep of the Kings. Williamson went to the locker room late in the second quarter with an apparent left-wrist injury but returned to score 23 points in the second half. “Proving myself right,” he said of his performance. “Simple as that. And then, with my teammates and coaches just trusting me, that means a lot.” McCollum tied a season-high with nine 3-pointers in 12...

SACRAMENTO — Sacramento's path to the playoffs will officially go through the Play-In Tournament after the Kings lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 135-123 at the Golden 1 Center on Thursday night. New Orleans, the Western Conference 6 seed, has been a tough matchup for Sacramento all season. A Kings win over the Pelicans would have moved Sacramento within 1 game of the sixth seed in the Western Conference, which would guarantee a playoff spot, with two more games left in the season for both teams. However, the Kings are...

Former NBA draft bust Ben McLemore addressed his Tuesday arrest on sexual assault charges in a statement released Thursday evening. McLemore is facing four counts — first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse — stemming from a 2021 incident that occurred in the City of Lake Oswego, Oregon. “I am not accused of using physical force to rape someone. Rather, I am accused of engaging in sexual activity with someone who now claims she did not consent,” McLemore claimed in his statement. “I did...

Former Trail Blazer Ben McLemore adamantly denied charges that he raped and sexually abused an incapacitated woman in Lake Oswego in 2021. His denial came one day after McLemore appeared in court to hear the charges against him and posted bail to get out of Clackamas County Jail. “I did not rape this woman,” McLemore said in a one-page written statement Thursday. “I am not sexually abusive. I have never pursued a sexual relationship when I understood the woman was not interested in me and acting willingly.” He added: “The...

Comanche, 27, and Harnden, 19, were both charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping on Monday in Las Vegas. Comanche appeared in a Sacramento County court Tuesday and waived his right to challenge extradition, according to Sacramento TV station KCRA, allowing Nevada officials 30 days to transport him to Las Vegas to face trial. The warrant includes dozens of text messages sent from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 between Comanche, a player for the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League, and Harnden, a woman whom Comanche told...
