The search for a Texas man who allegedly shot his neighbors after they asked him to stop firing off rounds in his yard stretched into a second day Sunday, with authorities saying the man could be anywhere by now.

Francisco Oropeza, 38, fled after the shooting Friday night that left five people dead, including an 8-year-old boy. San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said Saturday evening that authorities had widened the search to as far as 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the scene of the shooting.

A Texas man went next door with a rifle and began shooting his neighbors, killing an 8-year-old and four others inside the house, after the family asked him to stop firing rounds in his yard because they were trying to sleep, authorities said Saturday.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said authorities were still searching for the 39-year-old suspect following the overnight shooting in the town of Cleveland, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Houston. He said the suspect, whom he did not identify, used an AR-style rifle in the shooting.

Five people were killed, including an 8-year-old, during a shooting in Texas on Friday night, and the suspect is still at large, officials said. 

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said at a press conference that the office received a call just past 11:30 p.m. local time reporting harassment at a home in the town of Cleveland, located not far from Houston. He said patrol units found several people shot, and a total of five eventually died.

He said the victims’ ages range from 8 to about 40 years old. He said officials know they were all from Honduras.

The incident occurred at 11:31 p.m. local time on Friday when officials from the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office received a call about harassment in the town of Cleveland, about 55 miles north of Houston.

When authorities arrived at the location, they found several victims shot at the property, police said. Three of the deceased were females and two were males, including the youngest, an 8-year-old boy.

The reality that such an affirmation is needed is the entirety of the problem.

Four people were killed and 28 others injured in a mass shooting at a 16th birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama, on Saturday night. Authorities have not yet released information on the shooter or their motive.

The incident, which reportedly occurred at a dance studio, marks the highest number of injuries of any mass shooting this year so far, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive. It follows other recent mass shootings at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.

The mother of a 6-year-old who shot his teacher in January in Virginia has been charged with felony child neglect, the Virginia Commonwealth Attorney said Monday.

Following an investigation by the Newport News Police Department, Deja Taylor has also been charged with a misdemeanor for recklessly leaving a loaded firearm around a child.

In January, Abby Zwerner, a 25-year-old teacher at Richneck Elementary School, was shot in the hand and chest by one of her students. She spent about two weeks in the hospital and had four surgeries after the shooting.

A grand jury in Virginia has indicted the mother of a 6-year-old boy who shot his teacher on charges of child neglect and failing to secure her handgun in the family's home, a prosecutor said Monday.

A grand jury sitting in Newport News charged the boy's 25-year-old mother with felony child neglect and a misdemeanor charge of endangering a child by reckless storage of a firearm, Commonwealth's Attorney Howard Gwynn said in a news release.

The Associated Press isn't naming the mother to shield the identity of her son.

A Virginia grand jury has indicted the mother of the 6-year-old who shot his first-grade teacher earlier this year.

Police on Monday confirmed multiple people died after an active shooter entered a bank in downtown Louisville.

Officers responded to the Old National Bank on Main Street around 8:30 a.m. where they encountered active gunshots, Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey said during a media briefing at 10:20 a.m. Five people were confirmed dead and six people were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, including two LMPD officers.
