In July, Matthew Alan Livelsberger was posting to Facebook photos of himself proudly posing with his newborn child. He was in the middle of a highly decorated career in the U.S. military. Six months later, the 37-year-old was dead and named as the man whose Tesla Cybertruck exploded on Wednesday outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.

Tom Wilson, the chairman and chief executive officer of Allstate – sponsor of the Sugar Bowl – sparked severe backlash on social media Thursday afternoon after his statement following the New Year’s Day terror attacks in New Orleans.

Just before the start of the game, Wilson delivered a video statement in which he suggested Americans have an “addiction to divisiveness” and need to “accept people’s imperfections and differences.”

Matthew Livelsberger, who died Wednesday according to the Army, was an active-duty Green Beret and had served in the Army for 19 years. Green Berets conduct commando-style raids to attack key enemy targets, conduct reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines and train foreign militaries.

One person is dead and seven others were injured when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded in front of Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, according to officials.

The Las Vegas Police Department is investigating the explosion, which occurred this morning outside the hotel, located near S. Sammy Davis Jr. Drive and Fashion Drive. Officials are also looking at the incident as potential terrorism.
