Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who is running for Virginia governor, abruptly ended and stormed out of a recent interview after being grilled by a reporter over a host of issues related to schools, COVID-19, and public safety.

What happened?

WJLA-TV reporter Nick Minock recently conducted interviews with McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin. Both candidates were offered 20-minute interviews, but according to WJLA anchor Jonathan Elias, McAuliffe "abruptly ended" his interview halfway because he stormed out and chided Minock for not asking "better questions."

Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe abruptly left a TV news interview Tuesday, telling the reporter he “should have asked better questions.”

Mr. McAuliffe was asked by WJLA 24/7 News about his debate comment regarding parental involvement in school curricula, crime during his previous tenure as governor and COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

He left 11 minutes into the interview after the news outlet pressed him about vaccine mandates.

So when Mr. McAuliffe appeared on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC this week, it wasn’t long before the Democrat let slip the biggest challenge he’s facing next month in his bid to reclaim Virginia’s governorship. “People got to understand, Joe, this is about turnout,” he told the show’s co-host, Joe Scarborough.

Prominent Democrats from across the country are mobilizing to try to lift Terry McAuliffe to victory in the final weeks of the Virginia governor’s race, a critical election that has put Democrats on edge and carries significant national ramifications for the party.

Former President Obama will campaign with Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe later this month ahead of the state's off-year election. 

Obama will join McAuliffe on Oct. 23 in Richmond.

The news comes after McAuliffe's campaign announced that first lady Jill Biden and former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will campaign with McAuliffe this weekend.
