The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act passed on Wednesday by a vote of 221 to 198.

In total, 216 Republicans and five Democrats voted to pass the bill, while 198 Democrats voted against the measure.

In May, Representative Chip Roy, a Texas Republican, introduced the SAVE Act, which would require those registering to vote to provide documentary proof of United States citizenship. It is already illegal for noncitizens to register to vote or to vote in federal elections.

Governor Little recently signed Executive Order 2024-07, the Only Citizens Will Vote Act, to prevent those without United States citizenship from voting in Idaho elections.

"Idaho already has the most secure elections in the nation, and we're going to keep it that way," Governor Little said. "My executive order, the Only Citizens Will Vote Act, directs Secretary of State Phil McGrane to work with local county clerks to scrub our voter rolls and make sure Idaho's elections do not fall prey to the consequences of Biden's lawless open border."

WASHINGTON — One of the most vexing questions about the dysfunction of Congress is why lawmakers cannot find common ground on big issues facing the country when convincing data suggests there is broad public consensus about what should be done.

Kentucky moved closer to following the lead of several other states when a Senate committee approved a proposed constitutional amendment that would prevent non-U.S. citizens from voting.

While Kentucky’s constitution says U.S.-citizens are eligible to vote, municipalities in other states, like New York City, have ruled noncitizens can vote because there is no law against non-citizen voting.

Kentucky’s bill, sponsored by Sen. Jason Howell, R-Murray, would amend two sections of the state constitution related to voting. It now heads to the full Senate.

Immigrant soldiers have served in every significant US conflict since the Revolutionary War, but their presence in the military is often overlooked. Bidari, who heads to basic training in August, is just the latest in a growing number of legal migrants entering the U.S. military.
