A CIA agent forced into medical retirement by a mysterious set of symptoms often dubbed ā€œHavana Syndromeā€ is speaking out. According to the former agent, the CIA is actively suppressing the truth about the ā€œanomalous health incidents,ā€ or AHIs, that she and many other U.S. government employees around the world have experienced.

In an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge published on X, the agent says she is certain that she suffered an AHI and that the CIA is covering up the source.

FBI Director Christopher Wray announced that he will step down from the helm of the federal law enforcement agency ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. "After weeks of careful thought, I’ve decided the right thing for the Bureau is for me to serve until the end of the current Administration in January and then step down," Wray said during a town hall on Wednesday, announcing his resignation. "My goal is to keep the focus on our mission – the indispensable work you’re doing on behalf of the American people...

The U.S. intelligence community now reports Iran may have resumed its nuclear weapons program. This marks a shift from Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) reports to Congress dating back to 2019, according to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).

In July 2024, ODNI updated Congress on Iran's nuclear weapons program pursuant to the Iran Nuclear Weapons Capability and Terrorism Monitoring Act of 2022.

US President Joe Biden will convene his national security team in the situation room on Monday to discuss developments in the Middle East, the White House said, with the US said to believe an Iranian attack on Israel is imminent.

Biden will also speak with Jordan’s King Abdullah, the White House added.

The call comes a day after Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made a rare visit to Iran amid continued diplomatic contacts by the United States and its partners, including France, Britain, Italy, and Egypt, to prevent further regional escalation.

The U.S. and Germany managed to thwart a Russian plot that would have killed the head of a major German arms manufacturer as part of a sabotage campaign against Ukrainian allies and support across Europe, intelligence officials revealed.

"In view of the latest reports on Rheinmetall, this is what we have actually been communicating more and more clearly in recent months: Russia is waging a hybrid war of aggression," Annalena Baerbock, Germany's foreign minister, said on the sidelines of this week’s NATO summit.

An alleged Russian plot to assassinate the chief executive of Germany's leading arms manufacturer was foiled earlier this year by US and German authorities, US media reported on Thursday.

Broadcaster CNN reported, citing five sources, including a senior German government official, that Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger was targeted due to the firm's arms deliveries to Ukraine.

US intelligence agencies are reported to have informed German counterparts of the plot, who subsequently took measures to protect Papperger.

CIA director Bill Burns is expected to travel to Doha next week to join negotiations on the Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal, two Israeli sources said.

Why it matters: Burns is expected to hold a joint meeting with the Prime Minister of Qatar, the director of the Israeli Mossad and the head of the Egyptian intelligence service in an effort to push forward the deal that could lead to the release of 120 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and end nine months of war.

The CIA declined to comment.
