GOP attorneys general warn CVS, Walgreens against mailing abortion pill in their states
Republican attorneys general in 20 states warned CVS and Walgreens this week against mailing abortion pills in their jurisdictions, indicating that they would take legal action.
“We emphasize that it is our responsibility as State Attorneys General to uphold the law and protect the health, safety, and well-being of women and unborn children in our states,” the attorneys general said in letters to the nation’s two largest drugstore chains Wednesday.

Walgreens Boots Alliance and CVS Health plan to seek U.S. certification to dispense the abortion pill, moves that could dramatically widen access to thousands of pharmacies in the parts of the country where abortion remains legal. Walgreens, CVS limit sales of children's medications amid 'tripledemic'
CVS and Walgreens are limiting how many children’s pain relief medications people can buy at once amid a winter “tripledemic” of respiratory viruses, the companies said Monday.
In a statement, CVS said it is limiting the number of pain relief medications to two. Walgreens customers can buy six over-the-counter pediatric fever reducers, the company said in a statement.
“Due to increased demand and various supplier challenges, over-the-counter pediatric fever reducing products are seeing constraint across the country,” Walgreens said.

Three major retailers have tentatively reached an agreement to resolve thousands of state and local government lawsuits involving opioid painkillers.
CVS Health Corp, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Walmart agreed to pay about $13.8 billion to resolve those suits, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
The proposed settlement breaks down this way: CVS to pay $5 billion over 10 years, Walgreens to pay $5.7 billion over 15 years and Walmart to pay $3.1 billion, mostly up front, the sources say.

CVS and Walgreens have tentatively agreed to pay a combined $10 billion to settle lawsuits brought by states and local governments alleging the retailers mishandled prescriptions of opioid painkillers.
Walmart has also tentatively agreed to pay $3 billion to settle a similar lawsuits, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The agreement wouldn't be finalized until enough states, counties and cities agree to the terms, the outlet said.
CNN has reached out to Walmart for comment.
