(The Center Square) – Within one month of each other, six of the largest U.S. banks left the United Nations Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) not soon after Donald Trump was elected president.

Last month, Goldman Sachs was the first to withdraw from the alliance, followed by Wells Fargo, The Center Square reported.

The American Red Cross is responding to the tornado which devastated a small town in northwest Oklahoma Monday night, while continuing to help people impacted by last week’s tornadoes and Texas flooding. Meanwhile, millions of people face the threat of more tornadoes today. Trained Red Cross disaster workers and partners are responding across Oklahoma. They are providing a safe place to stay, food, relief supplies, health services, and emotional and spiritual care for people in Barnsdall affected by Monday’s devastating tornado and helping people in the southeast part of the...

Two Texas men were sentenced to federal prison after robbing a Wells Fargo ATM in Tallahassee last year, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. Charles Deon Mathews, 30, and Shair Trymaine Fields, 31, both of Houston, Texas, will spend roughly four years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Both men were each ordered to pay $88,710 in restitution to Wells Fargo and to forfeit $88,710 to the government, according to the release. The duo drove from Houston,...

Here’s a little public service announcement: If someone tells you they just won the lottery but needs your help collecting the money, don’t hand them $20,000 in cash for nothing more than a promise that they’ll return. Police in Newark have opened an investigation because a local woman learned that lesson the hard way. It all started on the afternoon of Feb. 28, when she was approached by a group of people in a vehicle who told her they just won $1 million through the lottery but there was a...

As the demand for safe-haven gold continues to build momentum, Costco is now selling as much as $200 million worth of one-ounce 24-karat gold bars each month, according to a report from Wells Fargo.

The big-box warehouse’s sales of 99.9% pure silver coins are also booming.

Gold prices scaled an all-time record peak of $2,400 Friday and were poised to post a fourth straight weekly gain as geopolitical risks and economic concerns surrounding China attracted robust demand.

Stocks sold off Friday as inflation and geopolitical worries once again dented investor sentiment on Wall Street. A broad decline in major bank shares also weighed on the market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 475.84 points, or 1.24%, closing at 37,983.24. The S&P 500 tumbled 1.46% at 5,123.41. The Nasdaq Composite pulled back by 1.62% at 16,175.09. At one point in the trading session, the Dow was down by nearly 582 points, or 1.51%. The S&P 500 slid as much as 1.75%. Week to date, the broad market index...

Bank workers at the Wells Fargo branch in Bethel have withdrawn their petition to file for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board. The Dec. 20 withdrawal came as a surprise after workers at another Wells Fargo branch in Albuquerque, N.M. voted the same day to form a union, becoming the first-ever Wells Fargo workers to unionize. Walter Sexton, a personal banker at the Bethel branch, issued a statement on the union election withdrawal. “Although those of us at the Bethel branch have decided to withdraw our petition...

Wells Fargo will lay off up to 525 employees in Columbia and shutter its office space at 101 Greystone Blvd. by June 30, 2024, according to information filed with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. The financial institution has been cutting down its real estate portfolio in addition to laying off employees nationwide, according to comments from the company’s Chief Financial Officer earlier this month, along with a letter from the banking company supplied to South Carolina’s workforce agency. “...We need to concentrate Wells Fargo real estate investments...
