AI bots will soon be rolled out on dating apps to flirt with people, craft messages on users’ behalf and write their profiles for them.

But depending on artificial intelligence to foster budding relationships risks eroding what little human authenticity is left on dating platforms, experts have warned.

It’s prime-time Friday night one week before Valentine’s Day and outside of a packed bar in Downtown Manhattan, two fire trucks are flanking the door. The building, thankfully, is not on fire: the bar is hosting a “Rescue Me” singles party, a dating event for people who want to meet firefighters and other first responders — including a few who’ve been ferried there by their enormous red trucks.

When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, the majority of justices decided that the right to an abortion should be left up to individual states. Two years later, thousands of Americans in parts of the U.S. with strict abortion bans are deciding to leave those states, new research finds. 

A recent study published by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) has been receiving a great deal of media coverage this month. It analyzed change-of-address data from the U.S. Postal Service. It purportedly found that people, particularly singles, are moving away from states with strong pro-life laws. Specifically, the study claims that 13 states that effectively banned abortion collectively lost a net 36,000 residents every quarter since Dobbs.

It’s as predictable as drag queens on the BBC: the moment a woman in the public eye does something lucrative but degrading, she pulls out the “feminist” card. This holds true for Lily Phillips, the OnlyFans performer who hit headlines after a stunt where she allowed 101 men to have sex with her in a single day, and for OnlyFans CEO Keily Blair, who claims that feminism informs her work. But a recent investigation by Reuters has exposed the criminal, monetised misogyny on the site.

Now that Vice President Kamala Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, online posts have begun to focus on comments she has made in various settings over the years.

One popular video clip that’s been circulating came from a 2014 speech Harris gave at a symposium hosted by the Ford Foundation. At the time, Harris was California’s attorney general, and she was announcing a new program, “Back on Track,” aimed at reducing recidivism among young, nonviolent offenders.

About half of young voters have multiple concerns about the ages of both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, new polling reveals.

In a CBS News poll, 48% of voters under 30 said neither candidate understands the concerns and needs of young people.

About one-quarter, 26%, said only Biden understands their needs and concerns, while 20% said the same for Trump. Just 5% said both candidates understand their needs and concerns.

After receiving a graduate degree, Julianna Larock was bombarded with news about the powerful labor market and how much demand there was for skilled workers.

In the 2010s, brands increasingly sold the public a social message. You couldn’t just sell soap – you had to sell personal hygiene products that encouraged society to accept people of all sizes. You couldn’t just sell soda – you had to sell soda that promoted peace between socially opposing groups. Even if the most cynical and toxic brands painted themselves as having a warm, human sensibility and strong political values. For some, such marketing was visibly self-serving and insincere.
