President Joe Biden turned 81 on Monday, reigniting discussions on his age and ability to potentially serve an additional term.

Trump is Old, Too: A writer in The Atlantic (Left bias) argued that while scrutiny over Biden’s age is “well-deserved,” that same scrutiny should be placed on former President and 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, who is only four years younger than Biden, stating, “To the extent that old age is an issue for a presidential contender, it should be an issue for both.” The writer determined Trump’s boisterous personality and his attention to the “power of appearances” have led to less criticism over his age, but stated, “The idea that Trump has the stamina for the presidency but Biden does not has little evidence to back it up—and even if he did, that would be no reason to risk another round of his administration.”

“Profound Selfishness”: The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board (Lean Right bias) argued concerns over Biden’s age are “front and center in his re-election bid.” Citing a Politico (Lean Left bias) report stating Biden “will not be able to govern and campaign in the manner of previous incumbents,” the board asked, “If he can’t take the rigors of a presidential campaign, why would voters think he can handle four more years of a grueling job, which might include being shaken awake in the wee hours to respond to a Chinese invasion of Taiwan?” They determine Biden’s reelection bid to be “an act of profound selfishness.”

Donald Trump is an old man.

He’s 77 years old. When Trump was born, Harry S. Truman was president and Perry Como topped the year’s pop charts. Betty White hadn’t yet started her career in film. Israel and Pakistan didn’t exist. Korea was a unified country, and Vietnam was not. The pioneering computer ENIAC was just four months old.

President Joe Biden will on Monday spend his 81st birthday pardoning turkeys at the White House as a Thanksgiving tradition before traveling to the Atlantic island of Nantucket on Tuesday with his family.

But his enjoyment of the day may be tarnished by renewed attacks from critics who think he is too elderly to hold office.

If President Biden’s birthday Monday is anything like his last one, he’ll eat a cake quietly with family and hope nobody else notices. When he turned the big 80 last fall, the White House arranged a marriage as a distraction for the press. Mr. Biden’s granddaughter was wed on the South Lawn. The timing “was not a coincidence,” two sources told CNN.
