Every community has charitable nonprofit organizations that help people navigate difficult situations. Some of those local, compassionate outreaches, however, are being bullied.

An unintended pregnancy is an unexpected battleground across the United States. Every woman should be loved and supported in her pregnancy. Compassionate help dedicated to encouraging women with unplanned pregnancies to say yes to their babies is not something that should be controversial.

A Georgia woman is facing charges after authorities said she suffered a miscarriage and placed the dead fetus in a bag before putting it in the dumpster.

Tifton Police responded to a Tifton Eldorado Road apartment complex around 6 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call about an unconscious female who was bleeding.

A 48-year-old woman in the Houston, Texas area was arrested for allegedly providing illegal abortions, according to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Maria Margarita Rojas, a midwife, allegedly operates a network of clinics that provide abortions in Houston. She was taken into custody in Waller County and charged with the illegal performance of an abortion, a second-degree felony, as well as practicing medicine without a license (via Attorney General of Texas).

Texas AttorĀney GenĀerĀal Ken PaxĀton (R) announced Tuesday that two more individuals have been arrested on charges they provided illegal abortions, apparently in connection to the midwife who was arrested this week on the same charges.

A Texas midwife has been arrested and charged on allegations that she performed illegal abortions, the state’s Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Monday.

Maria Margarita Rojas, 48, faces one charge of illegally performing an abortion, as well as a charge of practicing medicine without a license, according to a news release from Paxton's office. Court records obtained by USA TODAY show that Rojas was officially charged on March 12 for practicing medicine without a license, a third-degree felony.

When the news broke on Jan. 31 that a New York physician had been indicted for shipping abortion medications to a woman in Louisiana, Dr. Kohar Der Simonian was hit by a wave of emotions, among them fear and concern.

Der Simonian works as medical director for Maine Family Planning, which is 1,500 miles from Louisiana. Like the indicted doctor, Margaret Carpenter, Der Simonian mails abortion medication to patients in states where the procedure is banned — and her own name is written on the prescriptions.

Archimedes Banya will allow trans people at its monthly ladies-only and men-only nights, in a reversal of a recent policy that drew criticism and an investigation.

The full-nude Russian bathhouse in the Bayview announced the change Wednesday. The spa now asks attendees of its ā€œSpecial Women’s Nightā€ event ā€œto keep their genitals coveredā€ to respect the religious and cultural beliefs of women ā€œwho feel most comfortable in a space without visible genitals.ā€
