The Democratic Party has been defined largely by its fight against President Donald Trump since the 2016 election. See how AllSides' Red Blue Dictionary defines party-related terms such as democratic and partisanship.

Nadine Menendez was convicted Monday of cooking up a crooked scheme with her husband — ex-New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez — to sell out his political post for gold bars, a Mercedes-Benz and other bribes.

Jurors found the 58-year-old Englewood Cliffs resident guilty of all 15 federal corruption charges against her following about eight hours of deliberations over two days.

The left flank of the Democratic Party is back on its Resistance footing against President Donald Trump less than 100 days into his second term.

Sen. Cory Bookerā€˜s (D-NJ) marathon anti-Trump speechmaking, the Democratic pilgrimages to a Salvadoran prison, and the return of large-scale anti-Trump demonstrations all illustrate the trend.

The deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia has become a political flashpoint that Democrats are struggling to navigate, with the party split over how loudly to protest his detention in a Salvadoran megaprison.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) became the first Democratic senator to travel to El Salvador this week to visit Abrego Garcia, who lived in Maryland. Other Democrats are planning trips as they accuse the administration of violating Abrego Garcia’s due process rights.

I want you to think carefully and see if you can come up with a single issue on which the leftist establishment sides in favor of normal Americans. Just one. Just one time when they prioritize the interests of normal people over the demands of weirdos, losers, mutations, illegal aliens, pinkos, perverts, and vegans.

I’ll wait. And by the time you get back to me, the sun will have burned out and Saturday Night Live will be funny again.

The Salvadoran government on Wednesday rebuffed Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s (D-Md.) request to meet or speak with a wrongfully deported Maryland man, the senator said, accusing the Trump administration and others of lying about Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s gang ties.

Van Hollen said Salvadoran Vice President FƩlix Ulloa told him the government had no information connecting Abrego Garcia to MS-13 but could not accommodate a visit to the notorious CECOT prison, known by its acronym in Spanish.

US Sen. Chris Van Hollen told reporters in El Salvador Wednesday that he was unable to visit Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia in the maximum-security mega-prison where he is being held.

Instead, the Democrat announced he met with the Salvadoran vice president and vowed to ā€œkeep pressingā€ for answers and the man’s release.

ā€œThere will be more members of Congress coming,ā€ Van Hollen said in an emotional media availability. ā€œThis is an unsustainable and unjust moment, so it cannot continue.ā€

Former President Joe Biden took shots at the Trump administration's Social Security policies in his first major speech since leaving the White House on Tuesday evening.

"Seriously, people are now genuinely concerned for the first time in history, for the first and only time in history, that Social Security benefits may be delayed or interrupted," Biden said from the Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD) conference in Chicago on Tuesday evening.

Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D) said he is traveling to El Salvador on Wednesday to check on the status of a deported legal resident.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia made headlines after being removed by the Trump administration in an ā€œadministrative errorā€ and sent to El Salvador’s notorious CECOT maximum security prison to be detained.

ā€œFollowing his abduction and unlawful deportation, U.S. federal courts have ordered the safe return of my constituent Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States,ā€ Van Hollen said in a Tuesday statement.

Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and his family were forced to flee from the governor’s official residence early Sunday after an arson attack severely damaged the mansion.

The authorities arrested a man who they said had broken into the mansion in Harrisburg, Pa., and thrown objects into the home that started at least two fires and caused significant damage. No one was injured in the attack.
