The White House faces allegations it may have enabled unlawful gains on the stock market in connection with Donald Trump’s tariff brinkmanship. “Americans need to know whether President Trump or anyone in his administration manipulated the market to benefit their donors,” said Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Leading Democrats in Congress are alleging allies of President Donald Trump may be illegally profiting from his tariff brinkmanship.

Donald Trump is openly bragging about just how much money his billionaire buddies made off of his dangerous tariff gambit.

After announcing a 90-day pause Wednesday on his sweeping “reciprocal tariff” policy on nearly every country—with the exception of China—Trump was excited to take credit for making a buck for his guests at the Oval Office.

MSNBC seems to have found their latest outlet for their Trump-bashing fixation in the far-fetched conspiracy theory that the president’s recent tariff impositions were all a setup for insider trading beneficial to him and his close associates. On Thursday’s episode of The 11th Hour, host Stephanie Ruhle fleshed out this idea on the spot, based on the flimsiest of evidence, and refused to drop it even when her own panel tried to bring her down to earth a little.

“Well,” Ruhle began on the subject:

A former employee at the Nasdaq Inc. stock exchange in Stockholm has been charged with serious insider trading offenses by Swedish police, alongside three other suspects.

Sweden’s Economic Crime Authority raided the Nordic region’s biggest exchange in the fall of 2023 to collect evidence for an investigation centered on a series of trades going back as far as 2019. The criminal share activity resulted in profits of about 4.4 million kronor ($437,000), according to a statement on Thursday.

Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee was found not guilty of accounting fraud and stock manipulation by a Seoul appeals court on Monday, in a ruling that could remove long-running legal risks that he has faced from criminal cases. The Seoul High Court upheld the lower court’s ruling dismissing all charges from a case involving a 2015 merger that prosecutors said was designed to cement Lee’s control of the tech giant. The legal battles have been a distraction for Lee, who faced growing questions about his ability to lead Samsung...

A former executive for Chicago-based Verano, one of the largest cannabis companies in the United States, was federally indicted on charges of insider trading. The indictment Thursday accused Anthony Marsico, 39, of Bartlett, of using confidential information to make an illegal profit of about $607,000 by buying stock in another marijuana company that Verano planned to acquire. The deal to buy Minneapolis-based Goodness Growth Holdings Inc., now named Vireo Growth Inc., fell through. The two companies remain in court fighting over the failed deal.

Digital Currency Group (DCG) and Soichoro “Michael” Moro, the former CEO of its now-defunct Genesis subsidiary, have agreed to pay a combined $38.5 million in civil penalties to settle securities fraud charges with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The crypto venture capital firm will bear the brunt of the financial penalty, paying $30 million in fines, while Moro will personally be liable for a $500,000 penalty. In addition to the fines, both DCG and Moro agreed to a cease-and-desist order. Neither DCG nor Moro admitted to any wrongdoing....
