The Trump administration announced Monday it will “review” nearly $9 billion of federal funding for Harvard University and its affiliates, such as area hospitals, in an effort to “root out antisemitism,” according to the government’s antisemitism task force.

Harvard University is the latest target of the Trump administration’s ever-expanding investigation into elite universities.

The Trump administration has opened an examination of the government’s financial relationship with Harvard University, an indication that the nation’s richest college could be the next to lose its federal contracts and grants over its handling of campus antisemitism.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a bill Friday that strikes gender identity from the state's civil rights law, making Iowa the first state to remove civil rights from a previously protected class.

The bill passed the Republican-majority state Senate, 33-15, along party lines Thursday. Less than an hour later, the House passed its version of the bill, 60-36, with five Republicans joining Democrats to vote against it.

While not every state has protections for transgender people, Iowa Democrats added them to the civil rights code in 2007. 

Iowa’s Republican-led Legislature voted Thursday to remove gender identity as a protected class from the state’s civil rights code, sending the first-of-its-kind measure to Gov. Kim Reynolds (R). 

A federal judge temporarily halted multiple intelligence agencies from firing employees engaging in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts, documents show.

The order, filed Tuesday, specifically blocks the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from terminating 11 anonymous federal workers from their DEI roles in the federal government.

On Sept. 7, 1895, a group of 11 children and young adults from the Winnebago, Omaha and Cheyenne tribes arrived in the town of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. They had been sent on their 1,200-mile journey by Capt. W.H. Beck, an Indian agent who oversaw the Winnebago and Omaha tribes at a time when the federal government was breaking up reservation lands.

John Grant, at 12 years old, was the youngest of the group; 26-year-old John Clay was the oldest. Three were orphans.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order Monday to create a task force focused on reparations for the city’s Black residents.

As part of the executive order, the task force will conduct a study and examination of policies that impacted Black Chicago residents from the slavery era to present day, the mayor’s office said in a statement shared with The Hill. The task force will then issue a series of recommendations and remedies, the office added.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced the creation of a reparations task force and agenda aimed at addressing historical injustices against Black people in the United States while citing systemic racism and other polices he said have harmed people of color.
