Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem was reportedly robbed while eating dinner in Washington, DC on Sunday evening.

CNN reported that Noem acknowledged being robbed.

Noem, who was asked about the theft at the White House Easter Egg Roll, acknowledged the incident and said the matter has not been resolved.

The Secret Service, which provides security for Noem, reviewed security camera footage at the restaurant and saw an unknown white male wearing a medical mask steal her bag and leave the restaurant, a law enforcement source said.

Across the country, cannabis users today will celebrate 4/20, a day synonymous with the plant's consumption and a symbol of its growing acceptance.

But for thousands of people still incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses, 4/20 is not a day of celebration; it’s a reminder of an unjust system that has yet to make amends.

The federal government's sex-crimes case against Sean "Diddy" Combs will soon be underway, underscoring an urgent push to hold one of the music industry's most prominent figures accountable.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian ruled Friday against Combs' defense team's request to push back the start of his federal trial. At a roughly two-hour hearing April 18, Combs was seen smiling and waving to a few people as he exited the courtroom, including his mother, after a more emotionally subdued hearing than a previous one in March.

The White House is "looking into" the legality of sending U.S. citizens to prisons in El Salvador, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a briefing Tuesday.

The big picture: President Trump has recently threatened to send Americans to a notorious El Salvador prison where several deported Venezuelans, who are alleged to be members of the MS-13 gang, and one erroneously deported Maryland man are being held.

Some supporters of President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement have reacted with fury after Karmelo Anthony, who is accused of murdering fellow high school student Austin Metcalf, was able to bond out after a judge on Monday reduced his bond from $1 million to $250,000.

Newsweek contacted Anthony's attorney Mike Howard for comment via email on Tuesday outside of regular office hours.

Why It Matters

The family of Karmelo Anthony, who has been charged in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, plans to use crowdsourced funds raised for Anthony's defense to move and hire security. They say this is necessary after facing racist threats.

Anthony, who faces first degree murder charges, was in court on Monday, where he was released on $250,000 bond, a reduction of the original $1 million set by the judge. Anthony was also put on house arrest pending trial. Judge Angela Tucker said that "they've never had the security issues they've faced with this case."

A 17-year-old Wisconsin teen charged with killing his parents is also accused of plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to an unsealed affidavit from the FBI.

Last month, Nikita Casap, of Waukesha, was charged with killing his mother, 35-year-old Tatiana Casap, and his stepfather, 51-year-old Donald Mayer, and accused of living with their corpses for two weeks. Officials are saying he was also conspiring to kill the president.

A man is accused of a heinous crime in the New York City subway.

According to police, the suspect is wanted for having sex with the corpse of a homeless man on a southbound R train in the vicinity of the Whitehall St subway station in Lower Manhattan just before 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

He is wanted for sexual misconduct. Investigators said he is not believed to have known the victim.

The police were searching on Thursday for a man investigators believed violated a dead man Wednesday night on a train in a Manhattan subway station, according to an internal police document.

The person who died boarded an R train at around 8 p.m., according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the matter and the internal document. It was unclear on Thursday when or how the person died.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a state of emergency to address rising crime and the opioid crisis straining local law enforcement. Starting mid-May, 60 to 70 National Guard troops will assist Albuquerque police with non-law enforcement duties.

The governor says the deployment aims to support officers while they focus on community safety.

The ACLU of New Mexico warns the move could lead to increased profiling and the criminalization of vulnerable populations.
