We visited C.C. Tomatoes, an Italian eatery five miles north of downtown Concord, on a recent Sunday evening. It’s not the fanciest spot, but it’s cozy inside, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable, so families can feel comfortable dropping in for pizza or a full meal. For a long time, Italian restaurants were off-limits to those of us with celiac, but thankfully, that has changed. Most New Hampshire eateries do a good job of offering gluten-free menu choices, and C.C. Tomatoes is one of them. The extensive...

San Juan Islands travelers this spring can now choose to walk aboard a water taxi, rather than wait on Washington State Ferries boats that often run late. The MV Sea Lion, a whale-watching boat run by San Juan Safaris, circulates seven days a week starting at 7 a.m. from Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, to Orcas Island, Lopez Island and Cap Sante Marina in downtown Anacortes, then back, making two round trips per day. It’s a 10-week experiment, funded by the state. Rides are free. This niche service, using...

Rob Ah, I love the outdoors! And this is the perfect spot for us to start our camping adventure, Li. Li Oh… yes… nature, Rob. You said this camping trip was an invitation I couldn't refuse. Well, I really couldn't as you were so insistent... Rob Well, we can put the tent over there, next to that bush… Li It would be a good place if it wasn't so close to an ant nest… Rob …and we can light a fire near that rock… Li …the wind might put out...

Five people were injured when a United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Singapore encountered severe turbulence while cruising over the Philippines late last month, a United Airlines spokesperson said Tuesday. United Flight UA1, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carrying 174 passengers and 14 crew members, was flying at 40,000 feet near Claveria, Philippines, on March 27 when it hit unexpected turbulence, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The flight, operating under registration N27958, continued to Singapore and landed safely three hours later at 7:43 a.m.

YETI dropped its latest outdoor cooking addition with a new larger 14-Inch Cast Iron Pan that’s sizable enough to cook every meal outdoors. The new YETI 14-Inch Cast Iron Pan is an extra-large skillet that comes pre-seasoned — a time saver — and retails for $300. While the price tag on this 14-Inch Cast Iron Pan is a bit hefty, it truly is an all-in-one pan that you can cook over the campfire or use at home in the oven or on the range. The pan, itself, features a smooth...

A teen was hit in the face with a tree branch in an unprovoked attack in the subway in Brooklyn, cops said Wednesday. The 16-year-old was standing on a southbound F train platform around 8:40 a.m. at the Carroll St. subway station in Carroll Gardens when an unidentified man came up and smashed the youth in the face with a tree branch, sources said. EMS treated the teen at the scene for a cut on the left side of his face and a bruised nose. It was unclear what sparked...

A federal report finds that oil system debris and missed maintenance likely caused a cruise ship engine fire in Portland in 2023. PORTLAND, Maine — Federal investigators say a cruise ship engine fire that injured a crew member and caused millions in damage while docked in Portland in 2023 was likely caused by debris in the engine’s oil system, and possibly by the crew skipping routine maintenance. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released its final report on April 2, 2025, detailing the October 18, 2023, explosion aboard the...

Renowned sculptor and president of the Russian Academy of Arts, Zurab Tsereteli, passed away on the night of April 22 at the age of 91. Over the course of his prolific career, he created more than 5,000 works of art – paintings, graphic works, and monumental sculptures – many of which now stand in major cities around the world. His artistic legacy remains the subject of intense debate, with some of his most prominent works sparking admiration and controversy in equal measure. RT takes a closer look at the artist’s...

Terrorists opened fire against crowds of tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir, killing at least 27 people in the worst attack on civilians in the area for years. The rampage unfolded at Baisaran, a scenic resort near Pahalgam, in the north-east of the region, known for its pine-clad hills and sweeping valleys. It draws in thousands of visitors from across India and abroad every year. Gunmen in military fatigues sprayed bullets on holidaymakers in one of the valleys with automatic rifles from three directions, eyewitnesses told The Telegraph. They also said the...
