While the US has been running airstrikes against ISIS for many months, yesterday President Obama officially asked Congress for permission to use military force against ISIS. He asked for three years, and permission to send in Special Ops and other limited missions, as needed. Did he ask for too much or too little, and why?

Spreading even faster than the measles outbreak is the controversy over vaccinations and people who choose to opt out of them. Is it a Left vs. Right issue? Conservative site Newsbusters says that left-leaning coverage of this issue labels conservatives anti-vaccination, while plenty of liberals have chosen not to vaccinate.

From time to time, AllSides notices a political story is covered by the Center and one side (Left or Right) while being completely or mostly ignored by the other side. While we regularly post those stories, we sometimes will feature that story at the top of the home page and indicate which side is missing. While in general we think it is valuable to highlight differences in news coverage, we are even more likely to feature one of these stories if it is on a topic that the news media would normally cover or if it is particularly prominent among other news sources.

Polarization can destroy more than our government – it can also destroy families and friendships.

And because we're dedicated to the idea that we can disagree while being respectful and friendly, we like to support healthy conversations, especially around the holidays.

Climate change deal with China

Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama announced that both countries have agreed to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions over the next 20 years. The agreement states that the United States will cut its carbon emissions by 26-28% before 2025 and China will get 20 percent of its energy from non-fossil-fuel sources by 2030 and peak its carbon dioxide emissions in 2030. This week we bring you a multi-perspective glimpse of this news.
