San Diego Union-Tribune is a paid local daily newspaper for the San Diego area. Coverage area includes the San Diego county and the Imperial area. It was sold, along with the Los Angeles Times, by the Tribune Company in 2018 to Patrick Soon-Shiong's investment firm Nant Capital LLC for $500 million plus $90 million in pension liabilities.

The San Diego-based warship USS Mobile sailed in formation with vessels from three allied nations Sunday in a show of force meant to dissuade China from harassing Philippine vessels in the South China Sea, the U.S. Navy said.
