U.S. stock futures were sharply lower on Monday in the first session of the new month, after President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on major trading partners.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 600 points, or 1.36%, while the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 slid 1.8% and 1.6%, respectively.
Trump placed tariffs of 25% on imports from Canada and Mexico, and 10% on China over the weekend, causing concerns over how they will affect the global economy.
