Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) delivered the Republican Party’s response to President Joe Biden’s 2024 State of the Union Address from her kitchen table Thursday night. Watch it here.

Key Quotes: “Right now, our Commander in Chief is not in command,” Britt said, adding, “The free world deserves better than a dithering and diminished leader. America deserves leaders who recognize that secure borders, stable prices, safe streets, and a strong defense are the cornerstones of a great nation.” Britt also said, “President Biden’s border crisis is a disgrace. It’s despicable. And it’s almost entirely preventable.”

‘One of our biggest disasters’: Some Republicans quoted by the Daily Beast (Left bias) and Rolling Stone (Left bias) critiqued Britt’s delivery, which was described by some as “intense” and “creepy.”

How the Media Covered It: Most news and analysis coverage highlighted Britt’s criticisms of Biden, saying she “slammed” him and painted “a much darker picture of the country under his leadership.” Fox News (Right bias) and the New York Post (Lean Right bias) appeared to hype Britt up, describing her as a “rising Republican star”; Fox said she “pulled no punches,” noting that her selection to deliver the remarks was “met with widespread praise — even from some Democrats.” Meanwhile, CNN (Left bias) highlighted that Britt, 42, was “the youngest Republican woman elected to the US Senate.” A handful of articles focused on Britt’s speech delivery, which The New York Times (Lean Left bias) called “tonally jarring.”

Alabama Sen. Katie Britt slammed President Biden as a “dithering and diminished leader” — and lashed out at his handling of the migrant crisis in a no-holds-barred GOP rebuttal to the State of the Union address.

Britt, a first-term senator viewed as a rising star in the Republican Party, sat at her kitchen table as she warned of a dismal future for America if Biden is elected for a second term.

Alabama Senator Katie Britt slammed President Joe Biden on border security, calling him a “dithering and diminished leader” in her response to the State of the Union.

But, it was her own emotional and indignant speech that was widely mocked as “dramatic,” “creepy,” and “insincere” online.

Ms Britt, who at 42 is the youngest Republican woman to serve in the US Senate, was chosen to deliver the opposition party’s rebuttal speech to the president’s address.

Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) argued Thursday that President Biden is a “dithering and diminished” leader who is taking the U.S. down a worrisome path.

Delivering the GOP response to Biden’s State of the Union from her own kitchen table, the first-term senator laid into the president for the border, crime, the economy and his work on the international stage.
