By Clare Ashcraft, 3 November, 2024

As several newspapers with a history of endorsements have chosen not to endorse a presidential candidate in 2024, some readers have taken issue, with the Los Angeles Times (Lean Left bias) and Washington Post (Lean Left bias) losing thousands of subscribers and seeing some staff resignations as a result.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker on Tuesday affirmed his support for President Biden’s reelection bid, joining a chorus of Democratic elected officials backing the president as a handful of House members have publicly called for him to drop out of the 2024 race.

“The president did a great job of answering questions throughout that meeting. Listen, Joe Biden is our nominee. I am for Joe Biden. I’ve been campaigning for Joe Biden,” Pritzker told reporters Tuesday in Chicago.

Melinda French Gates endorsed President Biden on Thursday, her first-ever presidential endorsement, she wrote on the social media platform X.

Why it matters: French Gates is one of the most wealthy women philanthropists in the world. While she hasn't immediately committed any money to Biden's campaign, the endorsement is a signal boost for the president as other mega-donors have backed former President Trump.

Sources close to former President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who reportedly have not spoken to each other since December 2020, say teams behind both powerhouse politicians are working toward the Kentucky Republican endorsing Trump's return to the White House.

Taylor Swift is a “Pentagon asset”, an “election interference psyop” who, with unnamed left-leaning forces, has conspired to “rig” the Super Bowl and then endorse Joe Biden in the presidential election.

That’s according to a raft of influential rightwing figures, who have begun to spread a conspiracy theory that Swift, a pop star, is part of a nefarious plot ahead of November’s presidential election.

At some point, Taylor Swift transcended into one of those celebrities who isn’t just famous, but scarily famous; she’s not a brand, she’s an industry.

Swift’s extraordinary level of fame, success and influence has provoked the suspicions of reactionary influencers and conspiracy theorists. In conspiratorial online spaces, nothing ever just happens — big things are planned, and Swift’s boyfriend is going to the Super Bowl.

President Biden’s approval ratings are in the toilet and polls show him losing to likely GOP opponent, former President Donald Trump, as young voters turn their backs on the incumbent Democrat.

Mr. Biden’s campaign is eyeing mega-pop star Taylor Swift for help.

They want Ms. Swift to endorse him, as she did in 2020. Ms. Swift’s Eras Tour has drawn as many as 71,000 fans to a single show and is the highest-grossing music tour of all time. His campaign could send him to visit during her tour for her 2024 endorsement.
