White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has already surpassed one of her Biden predecessors in total number of PolitiFact fact-checks after just two months in office.

On Thursday, PolitiFact issued Leavitt her latest fact-check over her statement, "Tariffs are a tax cut for the American people." PolitiFact rated it "False" with chief correspondent Louis Jacobson writing that "virtually all economists" have characterized tariffs as "tax hikes rather than tax cuts."

Don’t call PolitiFact an ā€œindependent fact-checker.ā€ When they assemble to select their ā€œLie of the Year,ā€ they have singled out Donald Trump in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021. No Democrat has been tagged with this dishonor since Trump arrived on the scene.

It was Trump again this year, as PolitiFact tweeted: ā€œA lie marked a town and its residents in the name of campaign rage. It was absurd. It was consequential. Our Lie of the Year goes to Donald Trump and JD Vance for false claims that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating pet dogs and cats.ā€

Never call PolitiFact an ā€œindependent fact-checker.ā€

It is every bit as liberal and biased as its fans in the liberal media. Recently, it announced it had published its 1,000th ā€œfact-checkā€ of former President Donald Trump.

ā€œAmerican fact-checkers have never encountered a politician who shares Trump’s disregard for factual accuracy,ā€ it proclaimed. ā€œEver since he descended the escalator at Trump Tower in 2015, we have encountered a fire hose of claims.ā€

PolitiFact appears to be shielding President Biden and Vice President Harris from criticism over their past rhetoric expressing distrust in the coronavirus vaccine during the Trump administration.

Amid the Biden administration's struggle to vaccinate Americans, a video surfaced comments made during the 2020 election cycle by the then-Democratic ticket that cast doubt in a vaccine developed under President Trump.

PolitiFact insists that they are nonpartisan fact checkers. ā€œThe PolitiFact agenda is – don’t take sides with any politician or party,ā€ claimed editor Angie Drobnic Holan. ā€œWe’re independent and we work hard to find the truth. So we follow the facts wherever they take us, regardless of who made the claim.ā€
