Kaiser Permanente labor leaders said a tentative agreement with the company includes a 21% wage increase over four years, provisions to protect workers from outsourcing, and streamlined training and hiring practices to help boost staffing.

Friday’s agreement headed off a second wave of record strikes after months of negotiations. Other portions of the proposed contract include a new minimum wage of $25 per hour for workers in California and $23 per hour in every other state.

The coalition of unions representing Kaiser Permanente health care workers announced Friday morning that it reached a tentative agreement with the company.

The Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions announced they had tentatively reached an agreement via a social media post on Friday.

"The frontline healthcare workers of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions are excited to have reached a tentative agreement with Kaiser Permanente as of this morning," the group wrote on Facebook.

After a historic strike, healthcare giant Kaiser Permanente and the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions announced Friday that they reached a tentative 4-year union contract agreement in the early hours of this morning.

The deal gives frontline healthcare workers the resources to do the job they love and keep patients safe, said Yvonne Esquivel, a pediatric medical assistant at Kaiser Permanente in Gilroy, California, in a statement issued by the coalition.
