California Gov. Gavin Newsom said it’s “deeply unfair” for transgender girls and women to compete in female sports, breaking with fellow Democrats who have generally supported allowing trans student athletes to play on school sports teams that align with their gender identities.

Newsom made his remarks Thursday in the debut episode of his podcast, “This Is Gavin Newsom,” in which he conducted a 71-minute interview with conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who opposes same-sex marriage and has said there is an “LGBTQ agenda.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) came out against transgender athletes participating in women’s sports, a major departure from many in his party.

In the debut episode of his new podcast, This is Gavin Newsom, the California governor hosted conservative activist Charlie Kirk for a nearly 70-minute conversation. At one point, Kirk challenged Newsom to speak out against AB Hernandez, a biological male high school athlete who competed in the women’s triple jump and won by over 8 feet.

Over the last five years, legislators across the country have escalated their attacks on trans youth and adults.

Iowa, however, now holds the dubious distinction of becoming the first statehouse to repeal civil rights protections for trans people. The bill legislators passed on Thursday explicitly removes civil rights protections that had been enshrined in state law. Once the pro-discrimination bill is signed by Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds, trans people in Iowa will no longer be considered a protected category under state law.

Schools in Philadelphia will continue allowing transgender athletes to play in girls sports even after the state of Pennsylvania announced it would comply with President Donald Trump's "No Men in Women's Sports" executive order.

The School District of Philadelphia announced in a statement provided to Fox News Digital Tuesday it will continue following its previous policy that enables transgender inclusion.

The latest Gallup poll released Thursday finds a new high of 9.3% of adults identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual in 2024.

The polling company said the share of LGBTQ adults is up from 7.6% in 2023, has nearly doubled since 2020, and has almost tripled from 3.5% in 2012 when it first posed the question in surveys.

Gallup chalked up the trend to an uptick in younger, liberal women identifying as bisexual during the years of the Biden administration.

A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from moving transgender women prisoners into men’s facilities or taking away their medical care.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, a Ronald Reagan appointee, ruled Tuesday night that the policy — which Trump laid out in an executive order on his first day back in office — would likely violate the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment.

President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Monday barring transgender people from openly serving in the military. He claims that the ban, which discriminates against potential service members based on their gender identity, will support military preparedness and reduce taxpayer costs — but the evidence behind it remains as thin as it was when Trump instituted the same policy during his first administration.

Chloe Cole joins Emily to discuss her experience being medically transitioned between the ages of 13 and 16. Cole, who is featured in a new Daily Wire documentary called “Identity Crisis,” shares her perspective as a detransitioned activist against the ideology that led to “one big experiment” on children.
